Dhananjaya de Silva (Colombo Stars captain): "It was tough from the beginning. Tom got a good start but the momentum kept going till the end. It is a win for the bowlers, everyone bowled well. Pacers like Wieses, Naveen and Dushmantha were good and made easier to manage other bowlers. We have to get the combination right, with the overseas players it is coming right. Angelo will take over the captaincy and he will come back."

Bhanuka Rajapaksa (Galle Gladiators captain): "When we saw the wicket, we won the toss and elected to bat and tried to get 140+. We couldn't get the momentum and were 20 runs short. Credit goes to the bowlers, special mention to Noor Ahmad, as a bowling unit we are doing very well. We need to score more runs with the bat and hopefully we will be able to finish on the winning side."
A low scoring thriller is what we had on cards tonight. Galle Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat first but it didn't go their way as they lost 8 wickets for a mere 77 runs. Ben Dunk did the bulk of the scoring with 38 off 25 balls, hitting 4 fours and a six. Samit Patel (14) added 33 runs for the fourth wicket with Dunk.
Isuru Udana and the Afghan young gun Noor Ahmad then hung around and added 39 runs for the ninth wicket and stayed unbeaten. Udana hit a couple of sixes on his way to 25 off 17 and Noor Ahmad hit a boundary to make the best score of his T20 career.
The in-form Dhananjaya de Silva was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-18. Akila Dananjaya and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with couple of wickets each.
Colombo had a shaky start as they lost four wickets for 45 runs in the powerplay. Stand-in skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (24 off 28) then hung around and added 27 runs with Dinesh Chandimal who batted lower down the order. David Wiese (22 off 16) hung around and was dismissed in the 17th over. Chandimal kept getting singles and doubles and finished the match with a boundary.
Pulina Tharanga (2-31) and Nuwan Thushara picked up 2 wickets each but were expensive looking at the required rate for Colombo. Isuru Udana wasn't used at all in the bowling attack. The professor Mohammad Hafeez bowled a good economic spell of 1-15 in his three overs. The teenage sensation Noor Ahmad picked up figures of 1-22 on his LPL debut.

4 FOUR!!! With that stars gets a win here. And what a way to get a victory here. Fuller length delivery outside the off from Tushara. And Chandimal stands tall and drives that one beautifully past the deep extra cover for a four.

4 FOUR!!! Short of a length delivery outside the off from Thushara. As Chandimal goes for the half-hearted pull gets the top edge of the bat and it sails over the keeper for a four.
