So that's it from our coverage of the first semi-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy between Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad. Here's Ninaad signing off on behalf of Akshay Bhide and Arijit Kundu. Stay tuned for more cricket coverage across the globe.
Tamil Nadu couldn't have asked for a better semi final! Everything went according to their plan. Skipper Vijay Shankar won the toss and opted to field first trying to use the conditions in the morning. P Saravan Kumar proved the decision to be correct and annihilated the Hyderabad line up with a fiery opening spell of 3-2-11-4 and came back to skittle the Hyderabad line up for a paltry 90 and finished with figures of 3.3-2-21-5.

Only Tanay Thyagarajan showed some resistance in the Hyderabad line up with a score of 25 off 24 deliveries. The next best score was the 11 extras that the TN bowlers conceded. Hyderabad started well against the experienced Sandeep Warrier as the top order batters collected 17 off his first two overs.

But it didn't help the cause as the other bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular interval and supported Saravan Kumar well. Murugan Ashwin, M Mohammed and R Sai Kishore, all bowled economic spells. Ashwin and Mohammed picked up 2 wickets whereas Sai Kishore picked up a wicket on his very first delivery.

Tamil Nadu had a nervy start to their innings as they lost their openers in the third over itself but then the young stalwart Sai Sudharsan and skipper Vijay Shankar made sure that the current champions make it to the finals for the third time in a row.

The number 3 and 4 batters played risk free cricket throughout and chased the total in the fifteenth over. The skipper top scored with 43 off 40 deliveries and Sudharsan chipped in with an important knock of 34 off 31.

The TN skipper is in a brilliant batting form and has scored 181 runs in the tournament so far with a staggering average of 90.5. Quick bowler Rakshann Readdi chipped in with the early two wickets for Hyderabad and built some hope but the Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar had plans of their own.
14.2 Readdi to V Shankar
6 SIXXX!!! Vijay Shankar finishes things in style. A six to end the match and seal a berth in the final. Readdi bowls a well-directed short delivery, Shankar gets into the position quickly and just helps it on its way behind square and it sails over the ropes. So, the defending champions win by eight wickets and enter the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
14.1 Readdi to V Shankar
4 FOUR!!! Readdi bowls it shorter on the stumps, Shankar sits back and pulls it nicely over mid wicket for a boundary. Tamil Nadu are five runs away from winning this contest.
