That brings us to the end of our coverage for the opening T20I. Till the next time, it's ta-ta and good-night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentator Ayan Chatterjee along with our scorer Dushyant Kumar.
David Miller, Player of the Match- I think it's obviously a lot of hard work over the years. I have understood my game a lot better in the last five overs. Two players need to chase a total down and Rassie batted brilliantly in the end. I was just trying to go after the bowling, Rassie wasn't quite getting it so I tried to find the boundaries. It's the belief. I gave been around for some time now. Winning games and understanding situations give you a lot of belief. I am pretty happy batting wherever between five or six. I want to make a difference wherever I bat. South Africa is a different story. I have batted at No 4 in domestic cricket.
Temba Bavuma, South Africa skipper- We expected the wicket to get better as the night went on. He (Miller) made it look very easy. They put us under pressure when our spinners were bowling. It was a good wicket, probably we can read the situation a bit better, especially the spinners. I am being awfully critical because the pitch was good. He is a guy we can see as a finisher in our team. It was hot but wasn't so humid. Cut down on some training and make sure everyone is fit.
Rishabh Pant India Captain: "I think we had enough, but we lacked in execution a bit, and credit to Miller and Rassie for getting the win. I think the slower ones were good, but the pitch was good to bat on as it went better and better. I think the lesson is to bowl better plan better with dew around and get better with our execution. I thought we got a good score but we failed towards the end. All in all, we will take the lessons forward and hopefully, come back strong in the next game."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony by Murali Kartik.
Rassie van Der Dussen: "I feel very good. Was struggling a bit and David helped me to get through that tough period. I was always two boundaries away from getting the mojo back. I think I needed to get it away and used my mental toughness and did just that. I think the game plan that worked for me in the last few years is to stay in the middle and get set play 40-50 balls and contribute to the team. Dwaine had clear instructions and he did that to perfection. We batted well and got the target. We knew it was a fast chasing ground and as a result, got the job done. The key was hanging in through the tough period and getting the job done."
Ayan: Earlier in the game, it was Temba Bavuma who won the toss and decided to field first on a belter of a track. India got off to a great start adding 57 runs in 6.1 overs before Gaikwad fell to Parnell. Gaikwad scored 23 off 15 balls. Ishan Kishan was the star with his 76 off 48 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes to his name including a 20-run over against Keshav Maharaj. Shreyas Iyer contributed with 36 off 27 balls. Rishabh Pant contributed with his 29 off 16 balls while Hardik Pandya finished things off in style with his 31 off 12 balls as India plundered 56 off the last four overs to get to what looked like a daunting 211-4 in 20 overs.

From South Africa's bowling point of view, Keshav Maharaj picked up a wicket in his 3 overs for 43 runs. Kagiso Rabada was decent giving away only 35 runs in 4 overs. Anrich Nortje picked up a wicket in his 4 overs for 36 runs. Wayne Parnell was the pick of the bowlers for me in his 4 overs 1 for 32. Shamsi was plundered for 27 in 2 overs and Pretorius picked up a wicket in his 3 overs 1 for 35. It was a hard day for the bowlers of both sides and in the end, India went down tonight.

So, South Africa wins by 7 wickets with 5 balls to spare. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation coming your way.
Arya- Chasing anything in excess of 200 is never easy in T20 cricket so for South Africa to have any chance in the game, they needed to get off to a great start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started off well with his opening over, keeping both the openers Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma in check. Bavuma got a couple of fours away while QDK also grew in confidence after striking some from the middle of the bat.

It was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who provided the maiden breakthrough in the form of Bavuma’s wicket. It was an away swinger a tad outside off which took Bavuma’s outside edge and was safely taken by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. South Africa needed some momentum in the powerplay and it was provided by Dwayne Pretorious who was surprisingly sent at No 3. He swung at everything and managed to connect four out of the ground. His innings of 29 came in just 13 deliveries and changed the complexion of the game.

Harshal Patel who was introduced into the attack on the final over of the powerplay bowled an exceptional over which included the wicket of Pretorious courtesy of a sensational slower delivery. It was a full toss but Pretorious was foxed all ends up and ended up playing all over it. He ended up missing that completely and the ball clattered onto the stumps. He only conceded a solitary run which was much-needed for India at that stage.

Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled some good overs in the middle and South Africa couldn’t quite carry on the momentum which was provided by Pretorius. Axar Patel bagged the prized wicket of Quinton de Kock which tilted the scales in India’s favour. He was holed out at deep backward square leg as South Africa was reduced to 81/3. South Africa needed 127 runs in the last 10 overs and it seemed quite an uphill task for them. However, David Miller had other ideas in his mind. It was the over of Axar Patel which turned the game. He smoked the left-arm spinner for three sixes as he failed to get his lengths right.

However, at the other end, Rassie van der Dussen was struggling badly and it showed on Miller as the pressure started building on. Dussen broke his bat and that was the moment when his fortunes changed. It was the 17th over which completely turned the game upside down. Rassie Van der Dussen from scoring well below 100, smoked Harshal Patel-one of India's best death overs bowlers for three sixes and a four and ended with 22 runs which brought the equation down to 34 of the last three overs.

Another 22 runs over followed from Bhuvneshwar Kumar as South Africa just needed 12 of the last 12 deliveries. Miller smoked the first delivery for a six and then Van der Dussen came into the attack. It was nice to see someone hitting so well after struggling so badly in the first 30 deliveries. Harshal Patel bowled a good penultimate over but by then the match was done and dusted. Rassie finished the match with a reverse sweep which went well over the backward point fielder for a boundary.
Arya- What an exceptional run-chase this has been from South Africa. They have dominated the run-chase and have managed to romp past India by 7 wickets and with five deliveries to spare. It was an incredible partnership between David Miller and Rassie Van der Dussen which made sure that South Africa eased through to the target with five deliveries to spare. The Indian bowlers had no answers in front of a Miller onslaught and once Van der Dussen started getting the big shots going, it was a tough ask for the Indian bowlers. They kept missing their lengths and the two batters cashed in.
19.1 Y Chahal to R van
4 And that seals the game for South Africa. This is South Africa's highest T20I run-chase. What an exceptional run-chase this has been from the Proteas. Was a tossed up delivery from Chahal. Van der Dussen gets in position to play the reverse sweep and connects it to perfection. Well over the off side field in the circle and races away to the boundary ropes.
Ayan: Just 4 needed off 6 balls. Only a miracle can save India here. South Africa has got this in their bag.  They are starting the final over just on time.

1 Mix up but they will be okay. A full toss on the pads and Van der Dussen helps it away straight to the short fine leg fielder. Yes no wait. In the end a single has been taken.
18.5 H Patel to R van
4 Off the body and away it goes towards the deep third man boundary. It has turned around completely. Short delivery from Harshal Patel on the surface. Van der Dussen swipes across the line. Gets it off his body which trickles past the short third man fielder and off to the boundary ropes.
18.4 H Patel to R van
2lb That looked straight to be honest. Was a low full toss on the stumps. Van der Dussen shuffles across the off-stump quite a bit and tries to help it around the leg side. Van der Dussen doesn't make any contact as it strikes him on the front pad. Looked very close to be honest. Not out by the barest of margins. Just saved by the umpire's call. Two leg byes in the end.
18.3 H Patel to R van
0 Swing and a miss. Slower delivery on a length. Just a tad outside off. Van der Dussen takes a step or two down the track and swipes across the line. Doesn't make any contact.
18.2 H Patel to D Miller
1 Just a single. A low full toss on the stumps. Miller stays on his crease, very deep and works it away down the deep square leg region and takes a single.
