Milestone
That brings us to an end our coverage from this one-sided encounter. We will be back tomorrow with our live coverage. Till then it's ta-ta and good-night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and my fellow mates Akshay Bhide and Sourya Chowdhury.
Sunil Narine- Yeah coming off a good amount of cricket in the Hundred and the CPL. I am happy to be playing as many matches as possible. It's taken a while but hopefully, it goes from strength to strength and keep on contributing for my team. Getting Rohit Sharma in any cricket is always good. It's always a key wicket when you play against Mumbai.

He is someone who likes to know about the game, asks a lot of question. He is a quick learner, someone who leaves learning and has a long way to go. It was a flatter deck than the previous game. Not much for the spinners but we have to enjoy whatever we get. If batting is needed, whatever the team needs I am happy to deliver.
Sunil Narine is the Man of the Match.
Eoin Morgan, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper- Well it's been a long time coming. Since Baz (McCullum) has taken over last year, the way we have played in the last two games is the way our coach wants us to play. It suits our talent to play this way. To hold such a strong Mumbai Indians side to 155 and chase this down gives us confidence.

Fitting Venkatesh Iyer into our XI has been difficult with a lot of talented guys, and it's fantastic the way he's scored his runs. In the practice games too he has gone on to play this way. Sunil and Chakravarthy are two formidable bowlers. Sunil has been integral to KKR winning when they've done. Varun is the fresh guy. The first two games in this phase has been the template for us to play. There's only one way for us to go in the points table and that is upwards.
Rahul Tripathi bags the Upstox Most Valuable Asset of the Match for his exceptional knock of 74. Bags a trophy and a cheque of Rs. 1lakh.
Venkatesh Iyer is the Cred Powerplayer of the Match. Gets a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Quinton de Kock collects the Unacademy Let's Crack it Sixes Award. Bags a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Rahul Tripathi is the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match. A trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh for the promising batsman.
Venkatesh Iyer bags the Safari Super Striker of the Match Year. Gets home a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Andre Russell bags the Vivo Perfect Catch of the Match Award. Collects a Vivo phone and cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Harsha Bhogle.
Arya: Earlier in the day it was the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan who won the toss and put the defending champions in. It was a great start from skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock. Rohit Sharma started off with a pleasing push down the cover region while QDK took the onus on himself from the next over. He took the attack to Prasidh Krishna in his first over to give MI a bit of momentum by the end of the powerplay. Rohit Sharma struck a few impressive shots but was eventually dismissed by Sunil Narine.

Surykaumar Yadav who had a sensational time with the bat in the 2020 edition again fell for a small score in a bid to try some quick runs against Prasidh Krishna. It was top class bowling from Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy in the middle overs to tie up the MI batters and never allowed them to press on the accelerator. Some exceptional final overs by Prasidh Krishna and Andre Russell also helped KKR as they managed to restrict MI to a below-par score of 156.
Arya: Coming back to the match, MI finally got the breakthrough when Jasprit Bumrah deceived Shubman Gill with a good slower one. However, that didn't deter Rahul Tripathi who came in next. He came out with positive intent and started smashing boundaries at will. However, the man of the hour in the powerplay was none other than Venkatesh Iyer.

What a knock that was to get KKR off to a flying start. He scored his maiden IPL fifty and laid the much-needed platform for the middle order. He had the audacity to take on even Jasprit Bumrah. He was eventually dismissed for 53 of 30 deliveries which included 4 fours and 3 sixes but by then the job was almost done. Morgan was dismissed early but it didn't matter as KKR eventually chased down the target 29 deliveries to spare.
Rahul Tripathi, I really enjoyed that innings. Very happy that I stayed rill the end and got the team home. Yes obviously the coach tells ups to be positive. The extra pressure goes to the bowlers when the intent is positive.

I think it was important to put their spinners under pressure. After the 6 overs we were looking for boundaries and luckily it paid off today. All the coaches and everybody we had that good break after that first phase and in the 2nd phase we needed to be up and running and it has happened so far.
Rohit Sharma, MI skipper- Yeah, I mean few areas. We started really well but didn't get enough towards the back end. We failed to capitalise on the start. It was always going to be hard work with 156 on the board. Didn't execute our plans but things like this can happen. We should move on and look forward. No I mean see, the idea, the basics of cricket is when you have a good start make sure of the good start.

We kept losing wickets at regular intervals which actually stopped us from taking on the bowlers. It happened against CSK and it happened again. Will look to rectify these things. We didn't bat well, didn't bowl well but these things happen. Honestly it's always there in the back of our minds. It's important to know where we stand. Nothing is lost. We have to fight, which we have done. Yeah I am alright (regarding injury issues).
Arya: The intention was clear from the outset as young gun Venkatesh Iyer took the MI attack by the scruff of the neck right from the word go. He smashed Trent Boult for 17 runs in his first over as KKR raced off to 30 without loss in the first 2 overs. Just the sort of start the doctor would have ordered.
Arya: Cannot get more emphatic than this. It was never going to be an easy run chase against a top class Mumbai Indians bowling attack but the KKR top order has made a mockery of this target. An exceptional victory and all of a sudden, MI is sliding down the barrel and needs. tostart winning consistently to harbour hopes of going through to the playoffs.
15.1 R Sharma to N Rana
4 And Nitish Rana finishes off in style. Rohit Sharma just bowls one delivery as KKR chases it down in a canter. Outside off on a length and Rana sits on his knees and reverse laps that wide of the short third man fielder off to the boundary ropes.
