Dragons sipper Nishaanth lavished praised on Vivek. “It's important for us (to reach the playoffs). We have been consistent over the years and this time as a captain, feels all the more special. He (Vivek) is always handy both with the ball and with the bat. He always knows what to do and we trust him totally,” he said.
Vivek talked about his innings and what was going on in his mind while he was out there in the middle. “The plan was to bat till the end and stay not. I wasn't intending to play so many big shots, just wanted to stay till the end. The mood in the camp is really good,” he said.
Tiruppur Tamizhans’ captain Mohammed admitted that it was Vivek’s brilliant knock that took the game away from them. “We fought well. In the middle, we got those wickets but Vivek played a super knock. We have lot of youngsters in the squad, so I'm sure this will be a good learning experience for them. Enjoyed captaincy a lot and have learnt a lot myself,” he said.
Earlier, Tiruppur Tamizhans struggled with the bat and failed to put a big total on the board. While they kept losing wickets at one end, Bafna was the pick of the batsmen who notched up a half-century. He scored 52 off 50 before getting out.
What a chase this has been from the Dragons...They were in a spot of bother when Vivek came out to bat but he just changed the complexion of the game thoroughly and won the game for his side...Dragons clinched the win by 6 wickets...He remains unbeaten for a 28-ball 57 that included tree maximums and five boundaries during the course...Dragons lost an early wicket in the chase after Suresh Lokeshwar departed for 5. But Hari Nishaanth and Mani Bharathi chipped in with a good stand of 54 runs before Bharathi was sent back for 24 off 21…They then lost a few wickets in quick succession before Vivek and Hariharan steadied the ship and anchored the side to a win.
This win has led made them qualify for the playoffs.
