Milestone
That's the end of our coverage for this game. As expected, it was a one-sided affair and the visitors thoroughly deserved this victory. The second game is on Sunday, so do join us for that one. Until next time, it's a ta-ta and a goodbye from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentators, Arijit Kundu and Anurag Singh.
Tamim Iqbal | Bangladesh skipper: I thought Zimbabwe bowled exceptionally well in the first 15 overs, but the way Liton and Mahmudullah batted and then Afif. Today was the perfect example of how youngsters stepping up and putting up a good display. I was not thinking about the surface too much. Shakib bowled to the plan and we build the pressure and we got the wickets. Afif's innings was very special and Mehidy's innings was crucial too. Small contributions can make big impact.
Liton Kumar Das | Player of the Match: It's really good to bat on this surface and happy with my effort today. Initially the pitch was favoring the bowlers and I managed really well in the first 15-20 overs and then it got easy. When there are senior batters around you always get the support. A little bit of recovery tomorrow and I'll be fine.
Brendan Taylor | Zimbabwe skipper: Not the kind of day I wanted to have on my 200th ODI, but we were outplayed and well done to Bangladesh. The body is fine and I still love the game, so I'll keep going. When there are tough situations, they grab that moment and make the most of it. The young guys are trying hard in our team, but we couldn't capitalize on the great start that we got with the ball. Guys need to be stronger during tough times, it's a quick turnaround before the next one and we will certainly be better and switched on for that.
Time for the presentation ceremony.
DG: Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe won the toss and they elected to field first. Blessing Muzarabani gave the visitors an early blow as he dismissed Tamim Iqbal for a duck. At one stage, Bangladesh were 74/4 and looked set to be bundled out for under 200. But Liton Das played a terrific knock and scored his 4th ODI century to help his side reach the 270-run mark, which in the end proved to be more than enough to defend on this track.
DG: But once Taylor was foxed by a brilliant loopy delivery from Shakib Al Hasan, the floodgates opened and there was no coming back for the host as they surrendered and fell like a pack of cards. Chakabva played a lone hand as the dashing batsman notched up his second fifty in ODI cricket, but lost partners at the other end. In the end, the target of 277 was too much for the inexperienced Zimbabwean side as they were bundled out for a mere 121. Shakib was the chief destroyer with the ball, taking 5 for 30.
DG: Chasing 277 on a lively track here at Harare, Zimbabwe never truly got going as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. At one stage, Zimbabwe were 49/3, when Chakabva joined hands with skipper Brendan Taylor and started to save the sinking ship of their side. The duo started to pounce on any loose deliveries on offer and boundaries started coming thick and fast.
DG: End of the match and Bangladesh have thrashed Zimbabwe by a whopping 155 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. Maruma injured his hamstring in the first innings and didn't come out to bat. Shakib takes a fifer and it has been a productive day for the visitors who have earned a well deserved 10 Super League points.
28.5 Hasan to R Ngarava
W OUT!!! Shakib gets a fifer here and game over for Zimbabwe. They have been humiliated by the Tigers. Shakib bowls a quicker one across Ngarava who tries to drive but gets a faint edge to the keeper who grabs a decent catch to finish off the innings.
28.4 Hasan to R Ngarava
0 A beauty!! Arm ball angling across Ngarava who gets onto the front foot to defend this one but gets beaten past the outside edge. The keeper takes the bails off and appeals for a stumping chance.
28.3 Hasan to T Chatara
1 Slightly short on off to Chatara who gets a thick outside edge past the keeper for a single.
28.2 Hasan to T Chatara
0 Flat and full to Chatara who drills this back to the bowler.
28.1 Hasan to T Chatara
