That's all from the commentary box folks. Stay tuned for tomorrow's encounter between the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Till then it's ta-ta and good night from us, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty, Akshay Bhide and Vikhyat Jain.
Deepak Chahar, Player of the Match: I think the first wicket [of Agarwal] pleased me. Dream ball: pitches on middle and hitting off. It was a delight for the coach. I think it's a ball you dream about - the outswinger hitting the top of off. The first over catch went to Ruturaj, only Jaddu could've taken it. He has taken so many catches off my bowling - I just want Jaddu in the field [laughs]. I think I got the responsibility to bowl the first over and set the tone. It's a big responsibility for me in the last four years and Mahi bhai has shown faith in me. As a bowler, this is my plan always. You may not take wickets in T20s, so my plan is to bowl dots in powerplays.
MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings captain: Makes me feel very good and it has been a very long journey. It started in 2008 - played in SA, Dubai, and back home. Never thought Mumbai would be our home. In 2011, the last time that we were happy with the Chennai wicket. Before that, there was spin, but it also helped fast bowlers. After the wicket was relaid, we found it difficult to adjust to conditions. This is a very good wicket, but it depends on the conditions on that day. The ball moved today, but it didn't swing around a lot. There was no dew and enough seam movement. Overall the years, he [Chahar] has matured into a death bowler too but he's somebody who gets more purchase than other bowlers. If you're looking to attack, why not finish his first four overs. Bravo can bowl at the death. It's not a secret. We felt if Moeen bats up the order, we can make use of the resources that we got. Moeen is a very good timer of the ball and plays authentic shots. We have to make the most of the resources. I thought that [lbw call] was high and that's what the bowler needs to take. That's where the bowler's input is very important. I always thought DRS is one to take howlers away from the game. You take the gamble when it's really important or the last over of the game.
Deepak Chahar is the Man of the Match.
Time for Alan Wilkins to have a chat with winning skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Deepak Chahar is having a great day. He bags the Upstox Most Valuable Asset of the Match Award. Gets a trophy and cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Deepak Chahar once again is the Cred Powerplayer of the Match. He bagged 3 wickets in his 3 overs spell for just 13 runs in the powerplay. Gets a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Shahrukh Khan bags the Unacademy Let's Crack it Sixes Award. He smashed a couple of sixes during his impressive knocks. Bags a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Deepak Chahar gets the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match Award. He bagged 138 points, collects a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Moeen Ali is the Safari Super Striker of the Match. He bags a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh. The southpaw scored 46 of 31 deliveries.
Ravindra Jadeja bas the Vivo Perfect Catch of the Match Award. He gets a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Time for the Post-Match presentation ceremony.
KL Rahul, Punjab Kings skipper: There's not much more to say. When any team loses five wickets in the first six or seven overs.... It [The pitch] did [play differently]. It was more sticky and tacky than what it looked like. Deepak with his knuckle ball got a couple of wickets. Myself getting run-out. It wasn't a 110-wicket, maybe 150-160. We have pace in our attack and we obviously want to use that. Playing in India can be tough and cruel. Meredith and Richardson did try to execute the plan [against RR] and it was good to see them come back. We will review the key points that we spoke before the game and like you mentioned yourself that's how cricket goes. You smile and see how you can do better if we get a similar situation when we play at the Wankhede again. It's important to learn from our mistakes, that's the kind of team that we want to be.
Moeen Ali: Getting two points is the most important thing. It's a great win. My role is to just enjoy myself. MS just tells me to go out and time it and not hit it hard. I really enjoy batting in the top three. England is such a good side - it is what it is. If the chance comes in the future [to bat up the order], I'll take it. I just concentrate on the shape and timing at the nets. Not a big-hitter of the ball and I just try to time it. Our bowlers were amazing at the top. It was a great time to bowl and get the wicket [of Richardson]
Arya: Earlier in the day it was Dhoni who won the toss and opted to field. Right from the word go, Deepak Chahar was at his best and castled Mayank Agarwal with a beautify of a full outswinger. He followed it up with the wickets of Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran. Out of nowhere, the Punjab Kings were almost out of the game. Shahrukh Khan who has made a reputation for himself of hitting the big shots played a vital knock which eventually propelled them over the century mark. A score of 107 should have been way below-par and it turned out that way.
Arya: Du Plessis played the anchor's role to perfection and rotated the strike along perfectly. Raina was dismissed pretty early and two more had to bite the dust in no time as CSK tried to finish it off early. Eventually they reached the target in the 16th over with utmost ease.
Arya: Chasing a target of 107 was never going to be a problem for the Men in Yellow. With Faf du Plessis there to take them through, CSK began on a sedate fashion as the new ball bowlers bowled the right lines. Arshdeep Singh bagged the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad but still the match was well in control of CSK. From there on it was a partnership between Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali. The southpaw looked in sublime touch and played some delightful shots during his knock of 46 of 31 deliveries which included 7 fours and a six.
Arya: What a way to celebrate the 200th game for MS Dhoni in CSK colours. It proved to be the most one-sided match in the competition so as the Chennai Super Kings strolled past the Punjab Kings by 6 wickets to open their account in Vivo IPL 14.
15.4 Riley Meredith to Sam Curran
4 That's the end of the match. Back of a length delivery on the leg stumps and Curran helps this around the corner and finds the boundary down the deep fine leg region. A little bit of huff and puff but quite comfortable in the end for the Yellow Brigade.
15.3 Riley Meredith to Sam Curran
0 That is a back of a length delivery and Curran again works this down the short third man region.
