So this will be the end of the tournament for this year. This will be Vikhyat Jain and my friend Akshay Bhide this side who will be signing off until next year's madness. Take Care peeps!!!
Nicholas Pooran | MoS | Winning skipper: First of all I want to give thanks to the Abu Dhabi board for getting this to happen. There were a lot of West Indians and this was a good platform to showcase their talent. Runs on the board is pressure in a final, but our strength is batting and we decided that we'd chase down whatever they make. Well bowled to Fidel today, he had the last laugh, but we won and we had a laugh as well.
The awards list:- UAE Player of the Tournament: Mohammed Waseem Best bowler of the Tournament: Chris Jordan Best Batsman of the Tournament: Sohail Akhtar Player of the Tournament: Nicholas Pooran
Maheesh Theekshana | MoM: Bravo's wicket was my favourite. I backed myself and that was the only thing. Pooran was a very good captain and he gave every bowler freedom. This win means a lot.
Presentations on the way!!
Vikhyat: At the moment the Warriors are all upbeat, ecstatic and all smiles.
Vikhyat: Well not the kind of finale the fans across the globe would have been hoping for as the shortest format is all about blockbuster which we have witnessed all throughout the tournament. Nonetheless, this year's edition saw some exceptional performances that will be impressioned onto the minds for a long time. To name a few will be Pooran's mayhem of 89 odd runs in just around 30 balls, Gayle's storm that just blown away the minds that night where he went berserk and scored 80 odd runs in no time, maiden over, a hat-trick from Wayne Parnell. You ask for it and the chapters written this year will present the story.
Vikhyat: It was the Warriors who won the toss earlier in the night and trusted the history of chasing down the targets in the finale as well. Bulls after being asked to pad up first seemed like they were clueless about their business. None of the top-order batsmen was able to play through the innings which I reckon cost them the final. How rarely do you see all the batsmen coming out to enjoy themselves in a game of just 10 overs. A few lusty hits from Nabi couldn't do much as he also felt apart. The Warriors just choked the game for the Bulls in the middle overs and there was no respite for the Bulls as all the bowlers in the Pooran's armory came out hard at the Bravo's champions. Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers with 3 scalps against his name. 82 runs were never going to concern the dug-out of the Warriors especially with the likes of Pooran, Simmons, Powell, and all. Pooran promoted himself up the order and went after his business from the word go but was later outdone by the ferocity of Edwards. That over from Edwards was the only solitary over where the Bulls looked like pulling back things in their favor. But Simmons Powell, later on, ensured no more twist in the tail and saw their team through the line.
Vikhyat: It's the Northern Warriors who emerges triumphant on the night of the finals of the 4th edition of the shortest format of the game. A comprehensive win for the men in red as they get their hands on the coveted trophy with 8 wickets in hand with 10 balls still in their kitty. They will reign as the league champions for the 2nd time. They were all competitive throughout the league and dominated all throughout the tournament and eventually ending up the deserving side to lift the trophy. On the other hand, it wasn't just the night for the Bulls as they have been exceptional too throughout the league to come out and register their name as the finalists for the first time in the league, still they should be proud of the efforts the Bulls have put in.
8.2 Nyeem Young to Rovman Powell
6 SIX!!! A big hit from Powell over the fine leg fence seals the victory for the Warriors, banged in short and Powell pulls it with all the power over the ropes.
8.2 Nyeem Young to Rovman Powell
4wd Poor bowling from Young, this will lead to only formalities for the Warriors to finish off the game, bumper down the leg, too wide and the keeper couldn't collect it, 4 wides
8.1 Nyeem Young to Rovman Powell
2 Full on the stumps, Powell clubs it with power to the deep mid-wicket region for a couple
