So that's all from the commentary box for the final of BBL10. This is Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off on the behalf of my co-commentators Karthik Raj and Kingshuk Kusari.
The winner's medals being presented to the Sydney Sixers.
Joshua Philippe, Man of the Series- "I've really enjoyed my time here. I'm obviously happy to make these contributions. I couldn't have done it without this group around me. Different guys stood up all season."
Ashton Turner, Scorchers skipper: "Credit goes to Sydney. They've been best team in the competition for two years and they deserve the title. Well done to them tonight. There's been lots of challenges for us throughout this campaign. Thankyou to everyone involved in this tournament. Well done to the Sydney Sixers."
Dan Christian: "It's a little bit surreal. It's awesome to have such a massive crowd behind us tonight. I'll keep hanging on. As long as we keep winning I'll keep hanging on."
Carlos Brathwaite: "I really wanted to come over and represent the Sixers. They won last year so there was pressure on to perform. They made me feel so welcome. Fantastic win. I'm so happy for the boys."
Arya: Earlier in the day it was the Perth Scorchers who won the toss and opted to field. The Sydney Sixers got off to a sensational start courtesy a James Vince blinder. Just when Philippe was looking like turning the match with a six, he fell cheaply which put some undue pressure on the middle order. Vince again played a stunning knock of 95 of 60 deliveries was instrumental in their sensational victory. He kept finding the gaps and smashing the bowlers all around the park and eventually they set a target of 189 despite not many contributions from the other batters. Eventually, it proved to be way too enough as they emerged victorious.
Arya: So thats it, the Sydney Sixers lift their 3rd BBL title and this was a thoroughly professional performance for them in the all-important final. Chasing a target of 189 was always going to be a difficult proposition but the start was provided by Cameron Bancroft and Liam Livingstone. They both change their roles. Bancroft whis is generally a circumspect batsman and takes time to punish the batsmen. He played a gem of a knock and shared an opening stand of 45 runs. Both complemented each other very well. The opening wicket opened the floodgates and the Scorchers started losing their way. Wickets kept tumbling one after the other and barring a few useful knocks from Inglis and Aaron Hardie, it was a sorry tale for the Scorchers. Eventually they ended up winning the clash by 27 runs to lift yet another BBL title.
