A wicket-keeper and a left-handed middle-order batsman, Simon Atai is a professional cricketer for the Papua New Guinea national team. Part of the U-19 setup for the national team, Simon represented PNG in the 2018 World Cup, scoring 116 runs in six matches.

The youngster made his senior debut in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division two against Oman in April 2019. After finishing at the top of the coveted tournament, PNG regained its ODI status and the 22-year old made his ODI debut against the USA on the 27th of the same month.

After leading PNG to the super 16’s of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers, Simon has cemented his spot in PNG’s squad for the shortest format and would be looking to display his skills at the highest level against some of the world’s best teams.
