Player Bio

Stephan Myburgh is a South African-born Dutch cricketer who made his international debut in 2011. A technically sound left-handed batsman, Myburgh made his List-A debut for the Northerns in 2006. He had to toil for another 5 years before making his debut for the Dutch side. Myburgh was included in the playing XI against Kenya in 2011.

In his second-ever ODI game against the same opposition, Myburgh announced his arrival with a blistering knock of 56 to unsettle the Kenya bowling lineup.

However, it was in the 2014 ICC World T20 that the world saw the real Stephan Myburgh. In a group stage game against Ireland, the left-handed batter equalled the record of the second-fastest fifty in T20I’s, when he slammed a 17-ball 50 to help his side win the game inside 14 overs.

The Pretoria-born finished as the third-highest run-getter in the tournament, with 224 runs in 7 games and was also included in the team of the tournament by the ICC.

In 2017, he was added to the Pretoria Mavericks’ squad for the first season of the T20 Global League.

An aggressive batsman with great hand-eye coordination, Myburgh was a special talent who always lit the stage on fire whenever he was on the crease.
