Player Bio

Hailing from Lahore, Sidra Nawaz is a wicket-keeper batswoman for the Pakistan national team. She is one hardworking keeper and a pretty good batter when it comes to finishing off the games. Emerging from the U-19 level, Nawaz has found her way up to cement a berth in the Pakistan national team.

A 20-year-old prospect played her maiden ODI and T20I games Down Under, in 2014. On her debut tour, she replaced the former keeper Batool Fatima. However, Nawaz didn’t announce herself until 2016. She scored a composed 47 off 68 balls against England Women to become an integral part of the Pakistan setup.

The Lahore-born was part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2016 World T20. She played four games in the tournament but had a subtle tournament with both bat and gloves. In 2017, Nawaz was initially selected for the 50-over World Cup Qualifiers but missed the multi-nation tournament due to a leg injury.

The highly skilled wicketkeeper made her comeback in the World Cup, held in England, where the keeper took seven catches but didn’t bat much during the tournament.

In 2018, Sidra was named for the 2018 World Cup squad, playing four games as her team didn’t qualify for the knockouts. Two years later, she grabbed all the eyeballs on her when the keeper stood up to the medium-pacers in the 20-over World Cup. Behind the stumps, Sidra once again had a stunning time but Pakistan couldn’t make it big in the tournament.

Sidra is regarded as one of the best keepers currently present across the globe. However, her batting is on the weaker side that she needs to improve on to become one valuable asset for the national team.
