Player Bio

Born into a cricketing family, Peter Moore is a right-handed wicket-keeper batsman who plays for Zimbabwe national cricket team.

After Brendan Taylor signed up for the Kolpak deal, there was a huge void left in the team for a quality wicket-keeper and that is where Moor came into the frame. Moor was fast-tracked at a very young age as the talented player who represented his nation in the 2008 and 2010 U-19 World Cups.

The Harare-born toiled hard in the domestic circuit and finally got a chance in 2014 to make his Zimbabwe debut. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh and was dismissed for 2 in his very first international innings.

Two years later, the tidy wicketkeeper-batsman forced his way into the Test squad for the series against New Zealand. He scored a classy 71 against a good quality Kiwi attack, but couldn’t prevent his team from losing the Test match.

The cricketer who now holds an Irish passport was part of the historic Zimbabwe squad that defeated Sri Lanka in their own backyard in 2017.

In 2019, Moor was named as the skipper of the national side for the series against UAE, after the regular skipper, Hamilton Masakadza was ruled out due to an injury.

The Matabeleland-based gloveman is a stylish player who was once seen as a long term wicket-keeping prospect for the 'Chevrons'. So far, Moore has struggled to make a name for himself at the international stage as he has failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented to him.
