Player Bio

Hailing from Himachal Pradesh, Rishi Dhawan is an Indian all-rounder who generally bats in the middle-order. He is known to have a deceptive slower one and is also handy with the to bat.

Dhawan first made headlines as a 16-year-old boy in 2006, when he amassed 340 runs for Himachal in a U-19 match against Railways in the Cooch Behar Trophy.

The all-rounder finished the 2013-14 season of Ranji Trophy as the highest wicket-taker with 49 wickets and was selected in India 'A' squad for the Australian tour.

Dhawan made his ODI debut for India against Australia on January 17, 2016. He then made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe on June 18, 2016.

The Mandi-born cricketer has played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2008 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Later, he was signed by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2013 season. In the 2017 season, the medium-pacer was also bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The Himachal Pradesh cricketer was the leading run-scorer for his state in the 2018–19 season of the Ranji Trophy, with 519 runs in eight matches. In December 2021, Dhawan led Himachal Pradesh to their maiden title in domestic cricket, beating Tamil Nadu in the final of the 2021–22 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). The skipper was brilliant throughout the tournament, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 458 runs at an average of 76. He was also the second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets from just eight matches.

In February 2022, Rishi Dhawan was bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL auction for INR 55 lakhs following the brilliant domestic season.
