Player Bio

A naturally aggressive batsman and an occasional wicketkeeper, Peter Handscomb is a professional cricketer for the Australian national team. A talented junior tennis player, Handscomb opted for a cricket year and debuted for Victoria in 2011, scoring a well-composed knock of 71 at the Gabba on his debut.

After an impressive debut season for Victoria, Handscomb roped in his first Big Bash League contract with Melbourne Stars. The talented cricketer also played for Gloucestershire in 2015 and bagged an Indian Premier League contract with the Pune Warriors a year later.

The Victorian-born batsman made his international debut in a Test match against the Proteas on November 24th, 2016, and scored an impressive 54 in the first innings. Handscomb had a successful stint with the Stars while also being a part of the Australian set-up for the ODIs and Test Matches.

In March 2019, Handscomb scored his first ODI century against India in Mohali, where he proved to be a vital batsman in Australia’s middle order. Prior to the 2020 Championship season, Handscomb was signed by Middlesex on a two-year deal but had a horrid time in the English conditions failing to pass 50 in 13 innings for Middlesex.

The 30-year old had been captaining Middlesex in the 2021 season but was forced out of the squad after testing positive for Covid-19. One of the most promising batsmen in the country, he has crafted an unorthodox approach that has faired for him beautifully.
