Lahiru Udara is a burly top-order batter who is also a brilliant gloveman behind the stumps. He has represented Sri Lanka A and Sri Lanka Emerging Team, apart from being part of Colombo Cricket Club and Nondescripts Cricket Club domestically.
Born in Kalubowila, the wicketkeeper-batsman made his List-A debut for the Nondescripts in 2013, while his First-Class debut came in the following season, and got his T20 cap for the club during the 2015 season. He remained with the Nondescripts for three more seasons, before Colombo Cricket Club picked him for the 2019-20 season.
Udara was the leading run-scorer in the 2019-20 Premier League Tournament with 1,039 runs in nine matches, including his best of 290* against Ragama Cricket Club. Later that season, he was drafted in the Kings squad for the inaugural edition of LPL.
In July 2021, the keeper-batter was named in Sri Lanka's squad for their limited-overs series against India but didn’t get his debut cap then. The following month, he was picked in the SLC Greens team for the SLC Invitational T20 League tournament. If Udara continues to perform like this, his time to don the national jersey is not so far.
