Born in Cambridge, William Conrad Francis Smeed is an English cricketer who plays for Somerset in the English County Championship.
A right-handed batsman, Smeed has performed consistently well for a range of teams in different age groups throughout his career. He had a stellar 2018 ECB Super 45 competition for Somerset Under-17, where the attacking batsman made a telling contribution for his side and also made a scintillating hundred in the ‘Best of Bunbury’ game.
Smeed broke into the Somerset second XI in 2018 and played some fruitful knocks that showed his class to the spectators.
After contributing heavily in the red-ball cricket, Smeed made his T20 debut for Somerset in the 2020 T20 Blast.
An aggressive top-order batter, Smeed has exceeded expectations ever since he joined Somerset academy. His desire to learn and improve his game has garnered praise from every coaching staff involved with the Somerset County side.
