Player Bio

Ebadot Hossain, a Brett Lee fan from Bangladesh, made it big and achieved his dream of playing Test cricket for the country. However, his journey from being a volleyball player for Air Force to being an international cricketer has been nothing less than inspiring. He is also another right-arm seamer from Bangladesh’s newly set up pace factory.

Born in Sylhet, Hossain made his first-class debut in 2016, but it wasn’t just that simple tale. A volleyball player travelled 342km to Dhaka to try his luck in the 2016 Robi Pacer Hunt in Faridpur, where he impressed the bowling consultant Aaqib Javed. After making his first debut, Hossain took merely three years to find his way into the national Test team.

The Sylhet bowler pacer had his breakthrough during the 2018-19 domestic season, having taken 21 wickets in the BCL first-class tournament that included a ten-wicket haul against North Zone. Post that first-class season, he bowled some impressive spells in the 2019 BPL season, before making his Test debut.

Hossain made his international debut against New Zealand Down Under, but the Bangladeshi didn’t hit lines and lengths right, resulting in his spell of 1 for 107. After New Zealand, the seamer played two Tests against India to scalp the huge of Virat Kohli, but not before the Indian skipper scored a century.

Since then, the pacer has toured with the Test squad to Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka. Although to cement his place in the Bangladesh setup, the pacer has to showcase his true potential.
