Udara's Bio

A classy top-order batsman, Udara Jayansundera is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who was a part of the U-19 setup of the Sri Lankan national team. A part-time leggie, Jayansundera established himself as a prolific all-rounder in the latter stages of his career.

The 30-year old all-rounder made his domestic debut in List A cricket playing for the Sri Lankan Navy side against Sri Lankan Air long back in September 2009.  A year later, he represented the Sri Lankan U-19 squad in the 2010 World Cup in New Zealand.

The Ananda College alma-mater amassed 142 runs in a tour match against West Indies, playing for the Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in October 2015 and earned a callup to the senior Test Side. He made his Test debut against New Zealand just 2 months later and had a forgettable debut scoring just 4 runs in two innings as Sri Lanka lost the match by 122 runs.

Drafted in by the Kandy Warriors to play in the 2021 Lankan Premier League, Jayansundera would be hoping to make an impact in franchise cricket to earn a callup to the white-ball team of Sri Lanka.
