Player Bio

A promising wicket-keeper batsman, Sam Whiteman is a professional Australian cricketer for Western Australia who arrived at the domestic circuit back in 2012 and instantly became a regular member of the Warriors side.

Born in Yorkshire, Whiteman emigrated with his family to Western Australia at an early age and started playing cricket from an early age. He represented Western Australia at both U-17 and U-19 levels and also represented the Australian U-19 team in 2009. The 29-year old gloveman’s maiden fast-class hundred came as part of a record 371-run stand with state teammate Mitchell Marsh for Australia A against India A in 2014.

After signing for the Perth Scorchers ahead of the third edition of the Big Bash League(BBL), Whiteman enjoyed a highly successful season before suffering a horror injury that saw him sidelined for the fifth edition of the BBL. Returning back to the franchise cricket after spending a year recovering from injury, he played nine matches for the Scorchers but inconsistency with the bat saw him get limited opportunities.

Having retained by the scorchers for the upcoming edition of the BBL, the southpaw would be hoping to bounce back in decent fashion to cement his place for the Orange outfits.
