Player Bio

Arron Lilley is a middle-order bat who also knows to spin off-break. He is an English professional cricketer who plays for Leicestershire CCC, before having eight seasons with Lancashire. Lilley is taunted to be a T20 specialist, and his exploits in the NatWest t20 are evidence of his class.

Initially, Lilley started as a bowler who could bat a little. He made his debut for Lancashire, against Yorkshire, in a T20 clash. However, his association with the club goes back to 2010, when he made his Second XI debut. As his career progressed, the allrounder started working on his batting skills but was lethal with the bowl as well. The spinner played a crucial role in his team winning the T20 Blast with an economy rate of 6.46.

He made his List-A and first-class debut for Lancashire in 2012 and 2013 respectively. However, he didn’t enjoy much success in the longer formats. However, he had his best in the Championship when he bagged 5 for 23 against Derbyshire at Southport in 2015. But, Lilley failed to contribute substantially in the longer format.

Till 2019, Lilley grew as a pinch-hitter and started bowling less. The club moved the allrounder up the order that paid highly during the NatWest t20 of 2019. That season, he struck a 30-ball 66 at Trent Bridge, and then followed up with a 69 against Durham, in 2020, as Leicestershire reached the t20 quarter-finals.

The allrounder was the club’s leading run-scorer in the NatWest t20 Blast. However, post the commencement of the season, Lilley parted ways from Lancashire and signed a three-year deal with Leicestershire. The allrounder’s new club would be hoping that he contributes to the Foxes’ success.
