Player Bio

A left-handed opener hailing from South Africa’s Port Elizabeth, Dominic Hendricks who plays for Lions in the domestic circuit. He rose through the ranks from Gauteng’s age-group system, before representing Proteas’ Under-19 team in 2010.

The Port Elizabeth-born made his List A debut for Gauteng on his 19th birthday, making a half-century at quicker than a run a ball. Later that season, he toured Sri Lanka for a U-19 level Tri-Series. Touted to be watch-out in South Africa, he was included in the squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2010 and he ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer, with 391 runs at 97.95.

As his career progressed, Hendricks took some enormous strides in South Africa’s domestic circles. As of now, the top-order batter has played over 140 First-Class games to notch over 8000 runs, apart from over 100 limited-overs games to score around 3500 runs. Apart from that, he also captains his state teams, across formats.

Hendricks is an unannounced legend at domestic cricket, who hasn’t been so fortunate to don the Proteas colours. In November 2021, he was added to South Africa A squad for the series against India A, and if luck permits, he might get his due call in early 2022.
