Sohail's Bio

Sohail Akhtar is a Pakistani cricketer who plays for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

An all-rounder by profession, Akhtar is a right-handed batsman with an ability to chip in with wickets at crucial junctures.

He made his first class debut for Abbottabad in the 2012-13 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament.

At one point in life, Akhtar wanted to quit cricket due to politics in the domestic circuit, however, he decided to give cricket one more chance and focused on the shortest form of the game. Pakistani opener, Fakhar Zaman saw his talent and recommended his name to the Qalandars’ development programme head.

He impressed everyone during the trials and was soon named in the Lahore Qalandars squad for the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League.

Akhtar was a born leader. Under his captaincy, the team won the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. As a result, the Qalandars management decided to make him the permanent captain of Lahore Qalandars in 2020.

He is a genuine all-rounder who’s ability to clear the fence with ease is well known in the T20 circuit in Pakistan.
