Player Bio

A high-class top-order batsman, Kevin Kasuza is a professional cricketer for the Zimbabwe national team who made his domestic debut for the Mountaineers at the tender age of 16.

Kasuza has always been a player that has promised plenty, and in recent times, has delivered in spades in both first-class and List A cricket to justify Test selection. A former Zimbabwean U-19 star, Kasuza shot to prominence in his second season of professional cricket in 2011-12. He struck two centuries to finish inside the top 5 run-scorers in Zimbabwe’s Pro50 Tournament and followed up with his maiden Logan Cup century the following season.

In 2016-17, the Mutare-born batter enjoyed a breathtaking season in the Logan Cup amassing 446 runs in ten innings with a century and three half-centuries. In the subsequent seasons, the youngster improved his technique and had a belting 2019-20 Logan Cup scoring 314 runs at an average of 53 to prompt his maiden Test call-up.

Following years of toil, and dominance, on the domestic circuit, Kasuza was finally rewarded with Test selection in January 2020. He immediately impressed, striking a half-century on his debut against Sri Lanka, before hitting 38 in the second Test later that month.

In December 2020, Kasuza was named as the skipper of the Mountaineers squad ahead of the 2020-21 Logan Cup. Following the Covid-19 outbreak, the prolific opener was named in the playing XI for the Test series against Afghanistan In UAE. Dismissed on a duck in the first Test, he followed it up with a composed 41 in the second Test match.

The talented batsman, who comes recommended by Zimbabwean legend Hamilton Masakadza, is now eager to showcase his skills in different domestic leagues around the world.
