Player Bio

Tom Helm is a fast-bowler who was born and brought up in Buckinghamshire, later picked by Middlesex County Cricket Club at the age of 18.

The tall lanky pacer fast-tracked by Middlesex in 2012 as he debuted in a first-class clash against Yorkshire, finishing the game with five wickets, including Kane Williamson and Gary Ballance. A couple of days later, Helm played his second List A game against Unicorns where he took 3 for 27. Being associated with the county for half a decade, the Buckinghamshire-born didn’t enjoy much success until 2019.

Helm enjoyed an impressive 2019 season thoroughly where he took 58 wickets spread evenly across all three formats. Before his breakthrough season, the pacer has struggled with injuries throughout the early stages of his career. However, an injury-free season earned him an England Lions call-up.

In 2020, Helm was named in a 55-man group of players to begin training ahead of international fixtures starting in England following the global pandemic. Later, he was selected as a reserve bowler for the White-Ball tour of South Africa.

The following season, he was drafted into the Birmingham Phoenix squad for the inaugural edition of the Hundred. A pacer like Helm can trouble many of the greatest hitters in this latest format of the game, using his bounce and variations.
