Player Bio

Nondumiso Shangase is a batting all-rounder who plays for South Africa women’s cricket team. A wily right-arm off-break bowler, Shangase was named in the South African squad for their series against Pakistan in 2019.

Before making her Proteas debut, Shangase made a name for herself as the skipper of KwaZulu-Natal.

She eventually made her debut in the third T20I of the series and bowled just a solitary over as the Pakistan team won the match by 4 wickets.

A few months later she got a chance to cement her place in the national team by making her ODI debut against a strong Indian women’s team. The talented all-rounder bowled 8 overs and managed to bag her maiden ODI wicket in the form of Jemimah Rodrigues.

Shangase was selected in the South African squad for the 2020 T20 Women’s T20 World Cup. She did not feature in any of the matches as the Proteas were eliminated in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The South Africa women’s team toured India in 2021, and Shangase was a surprise call-up in the ODI and T20I squad.

Shangase has the potential to be one of the best all-rounders produced by South Africa. She has not had a great start to her international career, but her aim would be to permanently cement her place in the South African squad as the first choice all-rounder.
