So, we have the result of Match 3 of the Marsh Cup 2022 and it is the visitors of South Australia who have come out on top with a 61-run win over the home team Queensland Bulls. They outplayed the opposition in all facets of this game and will be happy to get points on the board and start with a win.

Liam Guthrie had fun out there as he remained unbeaten on 14 off 11 balls. 29 extras were given by South Australia as the Bulls were eventually bowled out for 217 in 46.5 overs.

Henry Thornton was the pick of the bowlers with his 3-55 in 10 overs. A couple of wickets apiece for Harry Conway, and Ben Manenti. Wes Agar bowled an economical spell of 1-30 in 10 overs. Nathan McAndrew chipped in with a wicket although he went at run a ball. There was a run-out in the innings as well.

Earlier in the game, South Australia put into bat first by Usman Khawaja were off to a sedate start. They lost Henry Hunt early for 9 off 25 balls. Weatherald looked good for his 37 off 44 balls. Skipper Travis Head contributed 47 off 52 balls while keeper batter Alex Carey chipped in with 20 off 23 balls. Nathan McSweeney scored 19. But it was Nathan McAndrew's 55 and Ben Manenti's 60 off 45 balls towards the end that rescued South Australia from 148-6 to eventually get to 278-8 in 50 overs. Thornton also had a cameo of 12 off 7 balls. Only 12 extras were given by the hosts Queensland Bulls.

It was the spinners that kept South Australia under check earlier today. A couple of wickets apiece for the two spinners Mitchell Swepson and Matt Renshaw. Gurinder Sandhu picked up a couple of wickets. A wicket apiece for the two pacers who kept things tight as well Xavier Bartlett and the ever-impressive Michael Neser. Guthrie went for 47 in his 4 overs and was literally hammered today.
