This is it from the live coverage of this game with West Indies winning it by 5 wickets. That’s it for today from myself Nikhil Kalla alongside my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya with our ever-so-reliable scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. See you soon again with more games to follow till then stay safe.

Nicholas Pooran | West Indies Captain: "Thanks! Here in Kensington Oval, the pitch behaves a bit two-paced. The last time we played here was against Australia. There too we bowled really well. And we replicated that here again.

It was good to see the debutants doing well. Kevin has played in the T20Is for us before. We knew his game. But yeah, it was great to see Yannic do well. I Hope, he has a long way to go.

Yeah, we knew that the chase will be tricky. But Brooks and others set the tone. They batted watchfully. I am too chipped in. But once the Brooks started making a few partnerships with the other batters, it was just a matter of the time before we cross the line."
Kane Williamson | New Zealand Captain: "We thought the conditions were really challenging and the West Indies team extracted a lot of the conditions and the surface hopefully we will learn from them and post a better performance next time.

We lacked rhythm in the batting and that cost us this game. Guys tried their best but somehow we finished 2nd best today but it is good to have some overs under the belt, Let's hope for better performance in the next game."
Shamarh Brooks | Player of the Match: "Yeah, watching the Kiwis batting I got to know that the pitch is quite tough to bat on. We needed to bat in partnerships. As I said the pitch wasn't the easiest of them. I batted watchfully and tried to put together the partnerships.

After the India series, it was important for us to make sure that we play better cricket and bat better. Once I was set, and playing the anchor role, I knew that we have enough firepower on the back with the likes of Pooran and all. Pooran adapted to the conditions really well. Finally, this win is very important for us."
Player of the match-: Shamarh Brooks for his brilliant knock of 79 runs.

NIKHIL: So, we are done here with West Indies winning the game as they defeat New Zealand by 5 wickets, as they chase down the target of 190 runs.

New Zealand started Superbly scoring 50 in the first 10 overs losing just 1 wicket. Then came the spinners and the Kiwis lost their top order cheaply to them. The wickets kept tumbling on a regular basis and the hosts never allowed the visitors to build a statement partnership. The opening partnership of 41 was the highest one for the visitors.

For West Indies, Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph scalped 3 wickets each. Jason Holder scalped a couple too. Debutants Sinclair and Cariah took a wicket each as well.

In reply to the target set by the Visitors, Indies started well despite losing a couple of wickets in the powerplay as they managed to bag 51 runs in it.

Hope and Mayers couldn’t last long and both departed on a total of 37 runs. Brooks and Pooran then managed to put up a partnership of 75 runs. They paced along well as the game progressed. Brooks scored a brilliant half-century as he managed to score 79 runs.

For New Zealand, Boult and Southee started well and picked up both the openers cheaply. Santner then chipped in with the wicket of Carty. Southee and Boult scalped a couple of wickets in total for the visitors.

West Indies win the game with relative ease and the decision to play 3 spinners worked in their favor in this game. As a result, West Indies have won this as they take a 1-0 lead in this 3-game series.

4 FOURRR!!!! That's the final blow from the bat of Jason Holder. Fuller length delivery and outside the off. Holder leans forward and drills a lovely extra covers drive. It races through the extra covers region for a cracking boundary. With that West Indies win by five wickets!
38.5 M Santner to J Holder
0 Tosses it again on the middle stump line. Holder comes well forward and blocks it again.
38.4 M Santner to J Holder
0 This is ridiculous from Jason Holder. Tosses it up on the off-stump line. Holder comes forward and blocks it solidly.

0 Fuller length delivery on the off-stump line. Holder on the front foot drives it back at the bowler.

37.6 T Boult to J Holder
1 In the air and safe. Short ball on the middle stump line. Holder on the back foot picks it up and pulls it. Not from the meat of the bat and falls well short of the fielder running across to his left from deep square leg. Just a single here.
37.5 T Boult to J Holder
0 Back of a length delivery and outside the off. Holder on the back foot opens his bat face and guides it straight to the fielder at backward point.
37.4 T Boult to J Holder
0 Fuller length delivery on the off-stump line. Holder on the front foot drives it well but straight to the fielder at mid-off.
37.3 T Boult to J Holder
0 Back of a length delivery on the fifth stump line. Holder is happy playing that away straight to the fielder. He on the back foot punches it to the fielder at short extra covers.
37.2 T Boult to J Holder
0 Good length delivery which kicks off on the batter. It is a shade outside the off. Holder on the front foot pushes at it and the extra bounce catches him on the gloves.
