That's it from our coverage of the opening ODI between Australia and England from the Adelaide Oval. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshaya Krishna Polya, Arijit Kundu and scorers/analysts Manish Bishnoi and Paras Yadav. Hope you enjoyed the experience. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the globe.
Jos Buttler (England Captain): "We tried to play with intent with the bat and Dawid Malan played a brilliant knock looking at the position we were in. The inexperienced bowling attack responded well under pressure and I am happy with the way everyone played. The game finished a bit earlier but we are happy with the effort.

Its a quick turnaround since Saturday [the T20 World Cup final] so we will keep making some changes in the series allowing some game time and experience to the players also widening our talent pool."
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Yeah fantastic performance, it's a team performance, everyone got involved with the win, pretty pleasing. I think just spread out, Ashton Agar came to the team after a while, and then Travis Head stepped up.

Everyone just cracked up. It was more than a management decision. I am sure he [Josh Hazlewood] will be a part of the series in the future. Yeah, spot on, that was great to see, we all know he is classy with the bat.

With time and time, getting better and better, yeah, have a long summer as well. Thanks!!"
Dawid Malan (Player of the Match): "I have no idea! It was a good wicket to bat on with some bounce as well. It was pretty nice to bat. Unfortunately for me, I had to miss out on those couple of games for England. That was tough for me.

I worked hard on my fitness over the year or so, but it was unfortunate to miss out. Now, I had to prove my fitness, and I did to get into the team for this game. I made a good comeback, and to score a hundred here today, was good to feel. It (ball) did a bit early on. They bowled well during the early phase. It was tough. I think we were 40-50 runs shorter in the end. I think this is the best format for me, though it is a tough team to get in."
An emphatic victory for the Aussies as they go 1-0 up against the World champions with a six wicket victory here at the Adelaide Oval in the opening ODI against England. First time ODI skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first as the pacers Mitchell Starc and the skipper himself got off to a good start sending the openers back in the first 5 overs.

The English middle order also failed to get to big scores as James Vince, Sam Billings and Jos Buttler failed to make impact. Dawid Malan played a great great knock as he completed his 2nd ODI century finishing with 134 off 128 deliveries and got England to a strong total of 287/9 in 50 overs. David Willey supported him with 34 not out at the fag end and got the team the required finishing touches.

Leg spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers with 3/55 in the first innings. Skipper Pat Cummins continued his wicket taking form with 3/62, Starc also bowled beautifully to clean bowled the opener Jason Roy.

The chase began even more beautifully with the left handed opening pair of Travis Head and David Warner getting off to a terrific start getting boundaries all over the park and scoring at a good rate adding 65 runs in the first powerplay.

The opening pair added 147 runs in 19.4 overs with Head losing his wicket to Chris Jordan. David Warner was looking good for a century as he added 53 with Steve Smith but fell short getting out for 86. Steve Smith announced his return to form with another half century and finished the game scoring 80 not out as wickets tumbled around him.

David Willey was the pick of the bowlers for England with a couple of wickets to his name with Liam Dawson and Jordan picking up a wicket apiece. It was an overall poor performance from the dual world champions as they lost their feet in the opening encounter.
Travis Head: "Pretty easy with David Warner batting at the other end. He makes it easy for me, we have had some brilliant partnerships in the past, Smith has worked hard in the past few days and he was happy with the work he put in today with the knock."
46.5 D Malan to S Smith
6 SIXX!! Smith finishes it off in style! Fuller-length delivery on the stumps. Smith clears his front leg and gets underneath it yet again, this time for a slog over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie to seal the deal for Australia by six wickets!
