That's the end of our coverage for tonight. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Nikhil Kalla and scorer Chandan Singh. Do join us tomorrow for more cricketing action all around the globe. Tata. Bye Bye.

Both Kaushik Gandhi and Shahrukh Khan receive the trophy from VVS Laxman. The players from both sides join in and pose for a photograph. The celebrations begin in both camps.
Shahrukh Khan | Lyca Kovai Kings Skipper: "No one would have thought that we would reach the finals. Everyone stepped up and the way it finished, happy to be joint-winners as the conditions were against us. The boys really picked up nicely in the second half of the tournament to win four out of four to qualify for the playoffs. I have got offies and happy to step up when it mattered and contribute. This has been one of the best units I have been part of. There is a good feeling in the dressing room. I was ready to give the ball to Ajith Ram but rain gods didn’t allow me to."

Kaushik Gandhi | Chepauk Super Gillies Skipper: "We take a lot of pride in it. We had a tremendous season and the way we turned the tables around after the first two games, proud of the boys. Probably next year, we could sit in and discuss how to win the first two games. Everyone stepped in and played their role to perfection. It’s an easy-going in the dressing room but we are strict on the field. It’s happy to be a part of the dressing room."

Sanjay Yadav is the Player of the Series.
Sandeep Warrier | Player of the Match: "I was trying so many things in the powerplay but I thought the cutters might work for me and luckily it worked. Lyca has a very good bowling attack and we needed to be on our toes while chasing this total. To be honest, I wasn’t in the best of shape at the start of the tournament but happy with my performance in the later stages of the competition."

Sandeep Warrier is the Player of the Match.
Time for the presentation.
Akshay: What a tame end to an exciting edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League. Persistent rain plays a spoilsport in the final as the match ends in no result and the trophy is being shared between the Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings.

The Chepauk Super Gillies had a low total to chase in 17 overs. They didn’t have the best of starts to the chase as they lost their skipper early in the innings. Kaushik Gandhi departed in the second over on one and Narayan Jagadeesan also was dismissed in the fourth over. They only managed to score 14 at the end of four overs for the loss of two wickets before the rain arrived.

After a long delay due to rain, the game was reduced to 17 overs per side. Chepauk Super Gillies skipper Kaushik Gandhi won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Lyca Kovai Kings got off to a steady start, scoring 45 at the end of the powerplay for the loss of one wicket. Ganga Sridhar Raju looked good for 27 but departed in the sixth over. Sai Sudharsan stood tall against the Super Gillies’ bowlers as he brought up his fifty off just 30 balls.

The Kovai Kings kept losing wickets at regular intervals and Sudharsan was dismissed on 65 as they lost their way in the slog overs and only managed to score 138 at the end of their 17 overs. The Super Gillies picked up nine wickets in total, with Sandeep Warrier finishing with four wickets. Sai Kishore also chipped in with three wickets as they restricted the Kovai Kings to a low total. In the end, the rain had the final say and the trophy was shared between the finalists.
Update | 12:15 AM IST: The inevitable has occurred as the rain has the final say in the final of TNPL 2022. The umpires call both the captains and have a chat and they shake hands as the match has been called off. Both the Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings are declared joint-winners of the sixth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Update | 11:48 PM IST: To get a result out of this match, at least 5 overs need to be bowled in the second innings. The DLS par score at the end of 5 overs is 39. The Super Gillies need something special to get to that total if we resume again. The Kovai Kings will be eager to get back on the field and get some overs to eke out a result.
Update | 11:34 PM IST: The umpires call for covers as the rain has gotten heavier. The players are walking off.

W WICKET. That's a big wicket in the context of the match. The pressure was building on Jagadeesan and he succumbs to it while trying to break the shackles. Good length delivery on the stumps, Jagadeesan makes room and looks to lift it over mid off but doesn't get it off the middle of the bat as Shahrukh from mid off runs back and takes a very good catch. What an over from Yudheeswaran. Just concedes three runs and picks up the wicket of Jagadeesan.
3.5 V Yudheeswaran to S Radhakrishnan
1 Angling in on the body, Radhakrishnan clips it through square leg and rotates the strike.
3.4 V Yudheeswaran to N Jagadeesan
1 Good length delivery on the stumps, Jagadeesan works it wide of mid on for a run.
3.3 V Yudheeswaran to S Radhakrishnan
1 Straighter this time on the body, Radhakrishnan tucks it off his hips towards square leg for a single.
3.2 V Yudheeswaran to S Radhakrishnan
0 Short again and well outside off, Radhakrishnan looks to cut it over point but again misses. Good start from Yudheeswaran.
