That's it from the second T20I between West Indies and Bangladesh from Windsor Park, Dominica. Arya Sekhar Chakraborty here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer/analyst Ashok Daima. Stay tuned for more cricket coverage from around the globe.
Nicholas Pooran | West Indies captain: "As a batting group, we wanted to put the bowlers under pressure. I felt we did it well. We just need to trust our process more and everyone needs to dig deeper. A lot of T20 batsmen around the world feel once they put the bowler under pressure early in an over, you can set up the over and that's something I've been doing well. Our spinners Hayden and Akeal bowled well. Credit to Bangladesh spinners as well. We don't have a big pool in the Caribbean. It's important for us to manage our players. Alzarri has been doing well since last two months and its important for us to manage his workload. Its nice to see the other players stepping up and getting wickets especially in the powerplay and the middle overs. The fans and the groundstaff, they worked so hard yesterday and this is one of the best fans in the Caribbean to be honest."
Mahmudullah | Bangladesh captain: "We didn't start well enough. Too many lose balls upfront which gave them the momentum to go on. We got a couple of wickets and shifted the momentum to us but in the end we gave it away. With the bat we were just probably didn't do good enough. Shakib batted really well but I think someone from the other end has to play a very good part. When you are chasing 190 you need to go from the first ball taking the advantage of the powerplay then you can take the momentum from there on but apart from Shakib bhai any other batter didn't play a part. Sometimes a break can help you to regroup and find things to improve. Its just a matter of time to get along."
Rovman Powell: "The batting plan is quite simple. Take the first eight or ten balls to get myself in because I can always make up. Credit to Pooran and King, I think they batted well earlier. It's a very good wicket. It is unfortunate that we are playing only two games here. We wish we had three games here in Dominica. I will give a lot of credit to my batting coach back home. I was struggling against spin and he helped me overcome that. The execution from the bowlers was good. We talk about getting wickets in the powerplay and we did that. If you get three or four wicket in the powerplay, you are on your way. I wanna say thanks to the people of Dominica, the support was fantastic here."
Rovman Powell is the player of the match!

Arya- Earlier in the day, it was West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran who won the toss and opted to bat. It was Kyle Mayers who got Windies off to a flyer. He scored 17 of just 9 deliveries to set the tone for the fireworks later on in the innings. Mayers was dismissed by Mahedi Hasan as he darted one on a length and Mayers missed the attempted slog-sweep completely only to see his stumps get clattered.

Brandon King started off brilliantly but lost another partner when Shamrah Brooks played a poor shot and was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan. It was a good start for the Bangladesh bowlers as they didn’t allow the Windies to go berserk in the powerplay. King was joined by skipper Nicholas Pooran who steadied the ship while King kept playing his strokes.

It was sensible batting from the duo as they got the Windies back into the game from a tricky situation. King timed the ball brilliantly and completed a well-deserved half-century. Pooran was dismissed after making 34 of 30 deliveries, an innings which included 3 fours and a six. He couldn’t quite resist the temptation of a reverse sweep and was out LBW of Mosaddek Hossain.

West Indies was going at a good rate but needed some big overs to swing the moment, totally in their favour. Rovman Powell came out all guns blazing and muscled his way to a monumental knock of 61 of just 28 deliveries which were laced with a couple of fours and as many as 6 sixes. He smashed Shakib Al Hasan for three sixes and a four in one over and followed it up with back-to-back sixes of Taskin Ahmed.

It was his colossal hits which laid the foundation for a score in excess of the 200 mark. However, the last three overs were quite good for Bangladesh. Shoriful bowled a great 18th over and was followed up by a good over from Mustafizur Rahman. However, Shoriful lost his way in the final over as Rovman Powell got under him and took West Indies to a commendable score of 193/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Arya- Bangladesh needed to get off to a blistering start to harbour hopes of chasing the target down. However, it was exactly the opposite of what happened on the field. Obed McCoy bagged two back-to-back wickets in his first over, the 2nd of the innings. While Liton Das flicked a fuller-length off-pace delivery straight down the throat of the deep backward square leg fielder, Anamul Haque chopped one length delivery outside off straight onto his stumps.

Mahmudullah started off with a dismissive six over deep square leg and followed it up with a boundary. However, the ultra-aggressive approach didn’t work for long as he was holed out at mid-off. He came charging down the track only to smash that straight to Obed McCoy. Bangladesh was under a whole heap of pressure, with the score reading 23/3.

From there on it was a good rearguard action from Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain which slowly got Bangladesh back into the run-chase. However, the target was still a long way and both of them needed to bat sensibly without conceding too many dot deliveries. Shakib rotated the strike along very well while Afif took his chances a bit. However, just when the partnership was giving Bangladesh a glimmer of hope, Afif perished at the hands of Romario Shepherd.

The run-chase started fizzing off as Shakib wasn't able to play the big shots with wickets falling consistently at the other end. Nurul Hasan couldn't quite get the big shots away either and his 13 balls 7 made sure that Bangladesh had no chance in the match left whatsoever. With the scoreboard pressure out of the equation, Shakib started to play some shots but by then the match was done and dusted.

Shakib smashed three big sixes during the last few overs as the Windies bowlers erred in length. However, it was only after they had ensured, that there was no chance of losing the game. Eventually, the former Bangladesh skipper remained unbeaten on 68 of 52 deliveries. Obed McCoy and Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts bagging a couple each.

Arya- A comfortable victory for West Indies in the end by 35 runs and they take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match series with the first being a washout. This was a special performance from the West Indies bowlers and despite a solid rearguard action from Shakib Al Hasan towards the latter stages, it was too little too late for Bangladesh. Disappointment certainly for Mahmudullah and his troops.

19.6 R Shepherd to Hasan
1 Last ball of the match coming up. A good yorker again angling into the left-hander. Shakib digs this out down towards the off side and takes a single.
19.5 R Shepherd to Hasan
0 A good wide yorker outside off, Shakib ends up getting an under edge, drops short of the keeper. No run.
19.5 R Shepherd to Hasan
WD One more time down the leg side and Shepherd has to reload that. Goes for the full yorker on the base of leg-stump. Shakib gets across and tries to ramp that over short fine but doesn't make any contact.
19.4 R Shepherd to Hasan
0 That's well bowled, Shepherd bowls it in the blockhole on the stumps and Shakib only manages to dig that out back to the bowler.
19.4 R Shepherd to Hasan
WD Down the leg side and it has been called a wide. Fuller angling away and Shakib couldn't quite put bat to ball.
19.3 R Shepherd to M Hasan
1 Mahedi Hasan tries to make some room and Shepherd follows him. Almost on the base of the boot and Mahedi manages to work that away down the deep square leg region for a single.
19.2 R Shepherd to M Hasan
4 First ball boundary for Mahedi Hasan. Fuller this time bowled just outside off and Mahedi Hasan launches it up and over and it goes to the boundary ropes down the wide long-off region. Got hold of that alright but this will be too little too late for Bangladesh.

19.1 R Shepherd to M Hossain
W Mosaddek Hossain has to depart here. Shepherd comes around the wicket and was looking for the angle across the right-hander. Bowls it well outside off, Mosaddek Hossain throws his hands at that and ends up getting an outside edge which has been safely taken by Nicholas Pooran behind the stumps. Clever bowling from Shepherd. He was looking for this angle and gets it right. West Indies has defended the score very well here.
