That's a wrap on the first of three ODIS here at Rotterdam with Pakistan holding their nerve to win by 16 runs to go 1-0 up. Join us for the second ODI on Thursday. Stay tuned to our network for all other cricketing action, and updates from across the globe and across formats.

For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentators Ajay Ahire, and Hitesh Peddurwar, alongside our scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Until next time, Goodnight and CHEERS!
Babar Azam Pakistan Skipper: "Definitely relieved to get the win. The Dutch pushed us all the way. Fakhar played great innings. The pitch was double-paced and so we had to build a partnership to get us back on track. I think the bowlers bowled well considering our inexperience and we are happy to win in the end. These are challenging conditions, but we loved playing here, and coming here to play in front of a big crowd has been an amazing experience. We are looking forward to the game on Thursday."
Scott Edwards(Netherlands Skipper): "Yeah I feel like we are getting ourselves in the winning position, Couple of dropped catches the one of Fakhar Zaman was an important one. I think we bowled pretty well throughout the innings and batted pretty well too. Yeah, our fielding has let us down and we need to rectify it."
Fakhar Zaman (Player of the match): "To be honest it was my lucky day. The wicket was tough to bat on. The opposition bowled really well at the start. It's good now(Injury caused by a wasp sting). At the start, we were just surviving as we know the wickets are there so we can accelerate in the end. I always enjoy batting with Babar."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Nial O Brien.
Pakistan holds their nerve in the end as they stave off the Dutch challenge to win the contest by 16 runs to go 1-0 up in the 3-match series and garner 10 crucial World Super League Points. So near, yet so far for the hosts here at Rotterdam.

Chasing a stiff target of 315 for the win, the Dutch did not get off to a great start as they lost Max O’ Dowd, Wesley Barresi, and Bas de Leede relatively early in the piece. Leede got into double digits while the other two didn’t. Vikramjit Singh and Tom Cooper took the score from 62-3 to 159-4 adding 97 for the fourth wicket.

Vikramjit scored 65 off 98 balls but against the spinners, he was just blocking and defending thereby increasing the required rate. Tom Cooper played well for his 65 off 54 balls before being dismissed. Nidamanuru had a decent outing scoring 15 runs.

Skipper Scott Edwards is having a golden period with the bat with his 9th ODI fifty continuing his rich vein of form this summer. He remained unbeaten on 71 off 60 balls but ran out of partners in the end. Logan van Beek contributed with a useful 28 off 24 balls, but it wasn't enough in the end. Pakistan gave away as many as 29 extras to the hosts something they will want to improve upon in the coming games.

Haris Rauf and debutant Naseem Shah got three wickets apiece with Rauf being more expensive while Shah was impressive on debut. A wicket for Mohammed Wasim Jr and Mohammed Nawaz who kept it tight as well. Shadab Khan was wicketless, but he kept things tight throughout.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan got off to a sedate start after winning the toss as they could not buy a run in the first powerplay. Imam-ul-Haq went nowhere as he managed a mere 2 off 19 balls. But it was the 168-run stand between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam that set things up for Pakistan for a big total. Babar scored 74 off 85 balls while Zaman who was dropped on 41 today went on to make the Dutch pay by scoring a majestic 109 at run-a-ball.

There was a mini wobble with Rizwan (14), and Khusdil (21) falling cheaply. But it was Shadab Khan’s 48 off 28 balls and debutant Salman Agha Ali’s 27 off 16 balls unbeaten that propelled the visitors to 314-6 in 50 overs with the help of 15 extras.

Bas de Leede was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands with a couple of wickets for 42 runs in 10 overs. Logan van Beek got a couple of wickets but went for 89 runs in 10 overs. Aryan Dutt bowled at the top as his 9 overs yielded 44 runs. Kingma got the other wicket for 61 runs in 9 overs. Tim Pringle went for 65 runs in 10 overs. Tom Cooper just bowled 2 overs for 8 runs.

So, Pakistan wins by 16 runs to gain 10 crucial World Super League points. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation ceremony coming your way soon.
