And Finally! The Australian Women's Cricket Team receive their GOLD MEDALS!

The New Zealand Women's Cricket Team receive their bronze medals!
The Australian, Indian and the Kiwi team take their well deserved positions on the podium! A huge round of applause for these women who have made the sport proud!
It's time for the medal ceremony!
STOP THE PRESS! AUSTRALIA WIN THE CRICKET GOLD MEDAL AT THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES! THEY COMPLETE A TRILOGY THAT MAY NEVER BE REPEATED! 50 OVER WORLD CHAMPIONS, 20 OVER WORLD CHAMPIONS AND NOW COMMONWEALTH CHAMPIONS! They defeat India by 9 run! The final that this historic games deserved, both teams have left it all out there but unfortunately one had to be the winner but we can safely say, today India and Women's Cricket have been the actual winners!

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in this final. Alyssa Healy lost her wicket early in the third over that cast doubts over the decision. But a fantastic 74 run partnership between Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning vindicated any doubts as Australia cruised to 83/1 at the end of the first 10 overs.

Momentum shifted as Lanning was clever run out by Radha Yadav off the first of the 11th over. India eventually made their way back in the game, picking up 7 wickets for 78 runs in the back half of the innings! Beth Mooney was the star of the show, smashing a brisk 61 runs off 41 balls. India eventually restricted Australia to 161/8 from 20 overs.

The chase got off to a quick start as Shafali Verma smashed two boundaries off the first over. The fireworks did not last long as India lost their openers in quick succession, leaving them reeling at 22/2 after 2.4 overs. The skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues took charge of the situation and stitched together a fantastic 96 run partnership, practically bringing India close to victory.

But Australia had other plans. They dismissed Jemimah in the 15th over before Gardner ran riot and picked up both Pooja Vastrakar and Harmanpreet Kaur of consecutive deliveries in he 16th over. The Indian Skipper smashed her way to a wonderful half-century, eventually scoring 65 runs off 43 balls. Australians never looked back after that over as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals to eventually bowl India out for 152 runs in the 20th over!

India clinch a well deserved silver medal and Australia will be over the moon. They proved today that why they are the best women's cricket team on the planet right now!
19.3 J Jonassen to Y Bhatia
W Oh my goodness!! Yastika looks to fancy a shot this time and she misses it. Seems like a goner and this is the ultimate wicket for India. This is really gonna be traumatic for India and the fans. Length delivery straighter at the timbers and the batter looks to reverse sweep at it.  Yastika misses and the ball thuds at the pads this time. The original decision is out but Yastika has sent it upstairs for a review. No bat involved and two reds initially and an umpires call for hitting the wickets. Australia have done it and agony for India as they fail to cross the finishing line despite being in the chase for the better part of the innings.

19.2 J Jonassen to Y Bhatia
1W Another aired up delivery on the off and the batter shimmies a tad down and lofts it towards the long off region this time. The duo scampers for a double here but no way was Meghna Singh reaching the non strikers end. Meghna was halfway at the crease while Jonasses disloged the bails on this occasion.
19.1 J Jonassen to Y Bhatia
0 Tossed up delivery outside the off and Bhatia looks to reach the line of the ball and  offers a dot as mistimes to the bowler.
Arijit: Short fine leg in place for Yastika and three fielders in the deep on the leg side.

18.6 M Schutt to Y Bhatia
1 Yastika once again looks to cramp for room and digs this yorker towards the point region for a single. The duo scampers for a single this time and 11 runs needed from the last over.
18.5 M Schutt to Y Bhatia
0 Gets the inside half of the blade here. Length delivery from around the wicket, follows the batte4r as she cramps for room. She manages to play it back to the bowler.
