That is all we have from today's encounter. Till tomorrow, it's ta-ta and good-night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentators Ninaad Dixit and Ayan Chatterjee along with our scorer/statistician Paras Yadav.
Andre Russell is the player of the match- When I went out there, batting wasn't easy. 165-170 was very good and we got eight runs over. We have a good bowling attack and two good spinners. My mindset is very clear when I go out to bat, not thinking about situations. My job is to go after it from ball one, sometimes I hit the first ball in the nets for a six. When I saw 20 off 17 on the scoreboard, I thought, "that's not me," but you have to fight it out sometimes. Before the last ball of the 19th over I said: "Sunil, just try to get a boundary, let me take strike in the last over," because of an offspinner bowling the last over. I got three full tosses and I did put them away. Always look to chip in with the ball and do something special in the field.
Shreyas Iyer, KKR skipper- Our mindset we came with in this game was outstanding, we were positive and it was really important to win this toss. Batting first in Pune teams have won a lot of matches. We were going over by over while batting, plan was to give Russell as much strike as possible and we were praying that he plays the last over because Washington had an over left. It worked out pretty well. 177 against them was over par, the way Sunny [Narine] and Varun stepped up on a slow wicket, they were pretty smart and we never let them [Sunrisers] get under our skin. We don't have anything to lose right now, we haven't played our A game so far in the league. We really stepped up pretty well today. And also I want to clarify from the last interview, when I took the CEO's name [for team selections], he's there to console the players who are sitting out, it's never easy for them.

Arya- Earlier in the day it was KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer who won the toss and opted to bat. It was a must-win game for both the teams, more so for KKR who would have been knocked out had they lost the match. KKR needed a good start to set things rolling but it wasn’t to be as Venkatesh Iyer who batted superbly in the previous encounter was Marco Jansen’s first victim. He ended up chopping a back of a length delivery outside off straight onto his stumps.

From there on, it was Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane who provided the much-needed impetus in the powerplay. Rahane started off with a brilliant pick up six and Rana later joined in the act. He took Natarajan apart in his first over and helped KKR consolidate the powerplay. However the introduction of thunderbolt specialist Umran Malik again broke open the KKR middle-order.

He bagged the wickets of Nitish Rana and Rahane in his very first over and all of a sudden, KKR needed to rebuild through their captain Shreyas Iyer and Sam Billings. Umran Malik again accounted Shreyas Iyer for the 2nd time in the tournament in as many matches. The KKR skipper ended up chipping on fullish leg-side delivery straight down the throat of the deep square leg fielder.

Sam Billings chipped in with a few useful blows to begin with but also lost Rinku Singh at the other end. It was now or never for the Knight Riders and it was when the man of the hour Andre Russell arrived in the middle. Russell kept finding the boundaries and was well supported by Billings. A 29 balls 34 steadied the ship in the middle before he was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

SRH bowlers would have been very happy with the bowling performance till the 19th over. However SRH skipper Kane Williamson did miss a trick by keeping Washington Sundar for the final over of the innings. He ended up bowling three full-toss and all three of them were deposited for maximums as KKR finished with a marginally more than par score of 177 runs. Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers bagging three.

Arya- The target was a tricky one for SRH and they needed a good opening partnership to lay the platform for the run-chase. Abhishek Sharma struck some wonderful shots to begin but his skipper kept struggling to find any timing and momentum. He struggled his way to 9 of 17 deliveries before getting castled by Andre Russell who was introduced early by Shreyas Iyer.

It wasn’t the greatest of starts for SRH as the duo of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi started rebuilding. Abhishek Sharma took KKR’s premier bowler Sunil Narine to the cleaners in his 2nd over as he smoked Narine for two straight sixes. Tim Southee then came back for his 2nd spell and bagged the wicket of Rahul Tripathi. It was drilled hard down the ground but Southee held onto a tough one.

The match kept going away from them after the loss of Abhishek Sharma's wicket and it became tougher and tougher for them as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Varun Chakravarthy bowled well in the middle overs but the talking point was Andre Russel's bowling. He bagged three wickets and was instrumental in restricting SRH to just 123/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Tim Southee: "That was a great win. Every game is a must-win for us, so every win is a good thing and by a good margin. I have to be ready all the time being an experienced guy. So, I am long enough to understand that. It's tough to embrace match situations in the nets, but the experience of playing all these years helps us. The track was similar to the last game we played. There was pace and bounce around and our spinners bowled really well on this track. The way Narine came back after his first two overs was amazing to see. Happy with the win, got to be ready for our next game."
Kane Wliiamson | Sunrisers Hyderabad captain: "The first half was reasonable. It was a fair total but Dre Russ is a threat and showed his class today. We tried to set a platform and create those partnerships but KKR is a very good side and in the last few games we have failed to change the momentum of the game to our side and we would like to change that. We wanted to take wickets and used our resources to try and do that. Washi stepped up and did a pretty good job in the circumstances. Using our resources early to change the game was something we wanted to do but it didn't work our way. We wanted to get off to a decent start. Abhishek was hitting the ball really well. We wanted to have big partnerships. We wanted to take the game deeper but we lost wickets and the required run rate then went a bit too high."
Arya- A comfortable victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders by 54 runs as they keep their slim hopes alive. They might still bow out but with this massive win, they have at least given themselves an outside chance. An exceptional bowling effort from the KKR unit ensured that the score of 177 was way too much for SRH in the end.

0 Swing and a miss and that's done and dusted. A big and important win for KKR. They still keep the fight going.
19.5 A Russell to B Kumar
1 Slower fuller-length delivery on the stumps. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets it down the long-on region for a single.
19.5 A Russell to B Kumar
WD Russell needs to bowl that again. Short of a length down the leg side and that has been wided.
19.4 A Russell to B Kumar
0 In the blockhole a tad outside off and Bhuvneshwar Kumar only manages to open the face of the bat and play it towards backward point.
19.3 A Russell to B Kumar
0 Back of a length delivery from Russell with a bit of extra zip of the surface. Bhuvneshwar Kumar tries to use the pace of the delivery and ramp it over the keeper's head but doesn't make any contact.
19.2 A Russell to B Kumar
0 Slower back of a length delivery on the pads and played with soft hands down the leg side by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
19.1 A Russell to B Kumar
4 Bhuvneshwar Kumar finds the boundary. That has been smashed down the deep cover region for a boundary. A beauty from Bhuvi. Fuller-length delivery on the stumps. Bhuvi backs away and drills this down the cover region.

0 Back of a length delivery around the off-stump channel and that has been defended off the backfoot by Umran Malik.
18.5 T Southee to U Malik
2 That has been dropped by Shivam Mavi. A comedy of errors. Again a good-length delivery from Southee and Umran Malik goes for the big heave down the leg side. Ends up getting a top edge and Mavi makes a meal of it. Allows Malik to take a couple.
