Well that's all from us for today folks! This is Anirudh Modi, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Ayan Chatterjee, and our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. It was a pleasure to bring you this game LIVE! See you soon on the next one!
Smriti Mandhana | Player of the Match: "I would've enjoyed it a little better if I had stayed until the end, but thank you to the Indian crowd, everywhere we play, we get brilliant support! I think the ODI format is a very natural game for me because I just like to go out there and time the ball.

T20s I have to put in a bit more effort to maintain the format, but regardless of the format, to score for India and get a W on the board is a special feeling. Good that Harman finally won the toss, and we got to see the wicket first, and when the ball was staying low, I had to give up my backfoot game a bit here. I would also like to mention that whatever we play in this series is dedicated to 'Jhulu Di'."
Smriti Mandhana is the Player of the Match!
Harmanpreet Kaur | India Women Captain: "Definitely, we are happy that we got that much support from the audience. It was nice to get that support, and we needed that. We showed a great character after losing the T20I series.

It was a crucial toss to win. Once we won the toss and it was important for us to back it up with the ball. It was a great partnership with the ball by Jhulan and Meghna. Both bowled really well and helped the side to get off to a good start. Deepti is a smart cricketer. She adapted to the conditions really quickly.

It was. a great start by Smriti and Yastika after losing Shafali. Both stitched a good partnership and helped the side to have a solid platform. I am always ready to give a hundred percent in the field. Overall, it was a great innings from Mandhana, and she, alongside me, added a good partnership as she took us closer to the victory line. Happy with the overall performance and it is important to start the series with a win."
Amy Jones | England Women Captain: "It's disappointing but we batted brilliantly towards the end and needed a few wickets in a powerplay to have a chance. We thought it was a trickier wicket but I think the Indians bowled well and put us under a lot of pressure. The fall of regular wickets and it got hard towards the end, the partnership between Sophie and Alice gave us a chance. Smriti and Harman batted pretty well and didn't give us a chance to come back in the game."

10:29 PM IST: INDIA WOMEN HAVE DEFEATED ENGLAND WOMEN BY 7 WICKETS! A comprehensive win for the Women in Blue, who have outclassed their opponents in all departments to take the 1-0 lead in this ODI series! England Women will be disappointed with the lack of fight shown by their team.

India won the toss and elected to field first, and that decision paid off! Jhulan Goswami playing in her last ODI series, put on the early pressure and she was well backed up by her compatriot Meghna Singh. Together the Indian pacers dismissed both the openers and ensured England were reeling at 21/2 after 8.4 overs.

Debutant Alice Capsey showed glimpses of her potential before eventually departing for 19 runs off 28 balls in the 18th over. Dunkley and Amy Jones too fell in quick succession, leaving England in a place of bother and a fear of not lasting the entire 50 overs. However, England's lower middle order put on a solid resistance, with Wyatt going onto score 43 runs from 50 balls and Alice Davidson-Richards scoring her maiden ODI half-century! Ecclestone and Dean played steady knocks to ensure England crossed the 225 run-mark and put up a competitive total of 227/7 in their 50 overs.

Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 2 wickets and conceding only 33 runs from her 10 overs.

Come the chase, England had a short lived boost of confidence when they dismissed Shafali Verma for a single run in the second over of the innings. In came Yastika Bhatia, and together with Smriti Mandhana, they took the game away from England. Stitching together a partnership of 96 runs, the pair ensured India were on the course of victory from the start. Yastika went onto to eventually score 50 runs off 47 balls before eventually falling to Dean.

The Indian skipper was out next to partner Smriti Mandhana, and the pair went onto to make a 99 run stand to bring India on the brink of victory. Smriti Mandhana was the top scorer of the Indian innings, scoring 91 runs off 99 balls before losing her wicket and missing out on her century. Harmanpreet Kaur stood tall till the end of the innings, to become the third Indian batter to reach her half-century in this innings.

The English bowlers tried their best to put the Indians under some sort of pressure but the total was perhaps too low to trouble the Indian batters.

When all was said and done, the women in blue came out on top and cruised towards victory in under 45 overs!
44.2 Richards to H Kaur
6 SIXX!!! HARMANPREET KAUR FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! It doesn't matter whether it is a six or four! The umpires are checking whether it is a biggie or a boundary and the replays say that it has sailed over the fence. Fuller length delivery and outside the off. Kaur sits down on one knee and fetches a slog sweep from well outside the off. Connects it well, and it goes over the leaping fielder at deep mid-wicket for a maximum. India win by seven wickets and go 1-0 up in the three-match series!
44.1 Richards to H Kaur
0 Good length delivery on the off-stump line. A solid front foot defense by the Indian skipper as the ball rolls down to the silly point region.

4 FOURRR!!! A great innovation by the batter and gets the boundary. Fuller length delivery on the off stump line. Kaur sits down on one knee and scoops it using the pace of the bowler over the short third man for a boundary.
