That's a wrap on our coverage of Match 63 of the Vitality T20 Blast 2022. Do join us for more Blast and all other cricketing action across the globe. For now, this is me Tugral Azmi biding you goodnight from the commentary box on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Ninaad Dixit alongside scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Until next time we meet again, CHEERS!!
Tugral: Derbyshire won the match by 6 wickets. When Leicestershire’s openers came out to chase 181 runs. Masood and Reece started playing aggressively as soon as they arrived. Reece was giving maximum strikes to Masood because he was looking solid today, whatever ball was going through his bat, it was visible outside the entire boundary line. Masood scored 73 runs in 32 balls in which he hit eleven fours and a six. Both the opening batters shared a 99-run partnership for the first wicket and then the match was lost in the hands of Leicestershire, Derbyshire’s 99 was made in just 52 balls. After Masood's dismissal, Madsen came to support Reece, but Madsen could not do much today and was run out by Ben Mike because of his mistake. Plooy joined Reece in the middle, together, they took some pressure off Derbyshire and kept changing strikes with ease. Both had a partnership of some 25 runs only when Parkinson caught Plooy in his spin and uprooted the wicket. Shortly after Plooy was dismissed, Reece got caught in Rehan's spin and was caught at fine leg. Reece also played a good inning for his team, he returned to the pavilion after scoring 39 runs. After Reece's dismissal, only 30 runs were needed to win Derbyshire, then Guest and Hughes took the command of the innings, both of them washed the bowlers of Leicestershire a lot and without losing any more wickets, the team reached the target. Guest and Hughes played an unbeaten inning of 29* and 12*. Derbyshire have won the third match of this edition.

On the other hand, Leicestershire would not have been happier with their bowling effort today, none of their bowlers could show anything special and the economic rate of all bowlers was above 7. Out of all the bowlers, only three bowlers managed to take wickets. Today Ben Mike showed a good effort both on the field and in the bowling as well, he took a wicket and got a runt out. He showed the way to the pavilion for both the Derbyshire openers. Parkinson and Ahmed also took one wicket each with their spin.

Earlier on the day,
Leicestershire posted a decent score of 181-6 in their 20 overs after they lost the toss and were sent in to bat first. Openers Scott Steel and Hamish Rutherford provided a healthy start as they added 44 runs in 29 balls. Rutherford and Lilley then added 70 runs for the second wicket. Lilley went on to complete his half-century and departed in the 17th over scoring 67 off 41 deliveries.

Left-arm seamer Hayden Kerr was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-25, George Scrimshaw also picked up a couple of wickets and Mark Watt also picked up a solitary wicket. Scrimshaw was also on a hat trick when he picked up the two wickets in the 17th over dismissing Ben Mike for a golden duck.

4 FOUR!! And it's all over! Gets one in the slot, stands his ground and slaps a flat batted stroke down the ground for four runs! Right between mid on and mid off, one bounce and over the ropes! Brooke Guest and Alex Hughes take the Derbyshire Falcons to victory!
18.3 N ul to B Guest
2 Another half volley on the off stump, gets down low and slaps this across the line towards the left of deep midwicket. In the air but safe for a couple of runs. Just 4 more to win.
18.2 N ul to B Guest
4 FOUR! Half volley outside the off stump, Guest is on the front foot and plays a lofted on drive over the vacant mid on region for four! The ball races away to the fence! No chance for any fielder to stop that.
18.1 N ul to A Hughes
2+1 Over the wicket. Good length on the stumps, flicked with soft hands towards the midwicket region. Couple of fielders run in from the deep. The throw is in at the bowler's end as the pair come back for a second run. Overthrow allows a third run as well.
