That's it from rain-interrupted thriller. This is Akshayakrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Nikhil Kalla who alongside our scorer/analyst Shubro Mukherjee brought you all the live updates from this mouth-watering encounter. Hope you all enjoyed it. We will meet in the next match. Until then, it's cheers..!
Akshaya: Earlier, Sussex Sharks won the toss and opted to field. Max Holden and Stephen Eskinazi came out to bat for Middlesex. After an early loss of Holden (5 off 3), Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell went all guns blazing against Sussex bowlers as they scored 71 in the powerplay. Steven Finn had the last laugh as he picked the wicket of Eskinazi (31 off 18) after getting hit for three consecutive boundaries in the final over of the field restrictions.

Cracknell got a small support from Jack Davies as the duo added 36-runs for the third wicket. Then in the 11th over Obed McCoy struck twice in the matter of 4-balls. Davies (14 off 13) and Martin Andersson (1 off 2) were his bunnies in that over.

Amidst this collapse, Cracknell continued to be positive and completed his cracking fifty. He eventually got out trying to up the ante. He received standing ovation as he was walking back to the pavilion at his score of 68 from 49 balls, including 8-fours and 2-maximums.

Middlesex continued to tumble as the wickets continued to fall in clusters. Obed McCoy had another double wicket over in the 17th of the innings. This time he picked the wickets of Luke Hollman (5 off 8) and Toby Ronald-Jones (1 off 3).

In the end, some lusty blows from Chris Green (22* off 11) steered the batting side well over the 160-run mark, eventually bundling out for 163 in 19.4 overs.

For Sussex, Obed McCoy (4-0-30-4), and Steven Finn (4-0-29-3) were the pick of the bowlers. Tymal Mills struck twice but was expensive at the same time.

Akshaya: Excellent batting display from the veteran Ravi Bopara has lifted his side here! He was cool as cucumber in this crunch moment. With ten needed off the final over bowled by Martin Andersson he slammed a massive six and followed it with a match winning boundary as he sealed the deal for Sussex in just three deliveries of the 17th over. Sussex Sharks win by 5 wickets (DLS method).

The consistent drizzle delayed the start of the chase by around half an-hour. The target was reduced down to 146 in 17 overs. Luke Wright and Tim Seifert walked out to bat for Sussex. As Middlesex, Sharks too lost their first wicket in the second over of the match. Wright tried to pull a short ball off Toby Ronald-Jones out of the park but he could only manage to put that down the throat of deep mid wicket fielder.

Tim Seifert held one end with his destructive batting as he punched on anything lose to score off. He struck six boundaries and a biggie in his 35 off 21 balls. Wickets tumbled at the other end as Sussex were reduced to 37/3 in the 5th over.

Seifert and skipper Ravi Bopara added 40 crucial runs for the fourth wicket before the former was out LBW as he missed a fuller delivery on to his pads in trying an across the line flick off Martin Andersson.

Chris Green soon reduced the batting side to 89/5 as he trapped Delray Rawlins (10 off 9) dead plumb in front of the stumps in the 10th over to push the match making it further more interesting.

With each dot balls and wickets and also with each runs, the DLS par total was playing cat and mouse's game in both team's court. Harrison Ward struck a six and a four off Middlesex's best bowler Toby Ronald-Jones in the 14th over in which Bopara too struck a boundary. With 16 coming off from that over, the match was moved towards the batting side.

Needing 10 off the last over delivered by Andersson, Ward rotated the strike in the first ball and gave the finishing honours to his skipper, who did not disappoint any one. Bopara hammered the slot ball into the orbit to complete his well deserving fifty and in the next ball he flicked away for a boundary to seal the match in favour of Sussex.

Bopara was unbeaten on 54 off 36 while Ward was unbeaten on 22 off 19. This duo involved in a partnership of 58-runs for the unbroken sixth wicket as they saw Sussex cross the finishing line with three balls remaining.

For Middlesex Ronald-Jones picked up a couple of wickets but was very expensive for his likings. Jason Behrendorff, Martin Andersson and Chris Green picked a wicket each.
16.3 M Andersson to R Bopara
4 FOUR!!! Bopara has finished this and he has put his team through the winning line here. This was again an attempted Yorker which was missed by inches but Bopara is too good for this as this has been flicked towards the boundary behind the wicket for four runs as he closes this run chase.
Akshaya: 3 off 4 now! That should be the final nail in the coffin for Middlesex. Ravi Bopara as cool as cucumber at this stage and he hammers it to get through to a match winning fifty.
16.2 M Andersson to R Bopara
6 SIX!!! Massive tension lifter this by Bopara as he has slogged this over the fence for a maximum. Andersson looks for the block hole here but misses by an inch and this lands in the slot for the batter and he smokes this over the head of long-on fielder for a maximum.
16.1 M Andersson to Ward
1 Perfect delivery to start the penultimate over as this is on his toes and he plays this towards long-off for a single.
Akshaya: Well, I am backing Bopara.
NIKHIL: I'd back the bowling unit to win here. What's your take Akshaya?
Akshaya: 10 needed off the last over! This game had a lots off twists till here. Can we have one more? This is going down the wire. One big hit and nudging the balls here and those will do for Middlesex.

15.4 C Green to Ward

1 Right in the block hole as he dugout this towards long-on for a single.
15.1 C Green to R Bopara
