We have been treated to some impressive hard hitting game along with some impressive bowling spells today here at Taunton in this T20 Blast game between Somerset and Essex. This is Shashank Surly taking your leave from this match along with my co-commentator Nikhil Kalla and scorer/analyst Raju. We will meet you for the upcoming Blast games until then Goodnight and Goodbye.
So lets look at the next assignment for both the team, Somerset will play Hampshire tomorrow night at Southampton and Essex will host Hampshire at home on Tuesday night.
Man of the Match: Rilee Russouw [ 67 off 29 (4s-2/6s-7) ]
Rilee Russouw (Man of the Match): "Very nice to have a good one and take the team over the line. I didn't know what to expect here as I had just played some decent practice games and it was really good to put it on the field. Somerset have one of the best atmosphere in England and I love playing in front of these fans. This team has a lot of potential to make it deep into the tournament. My game-plan is pretty simple see ball and hit ball."
Shashank: Somerset have made a cakewalk of this chase as they win the rain-hit game by 6 wickets. The hosts have been clinical throughout the day and have put on a brilliant show. Essex were toothless with their bowling attack and were punished deservedly.

Somerset won the toss and put the visitors into bat and cleaned up their openers pretty early and had them in all sorts of trouble but Michael Pepper and Matthew Critchley built a sensational partnership for the third wicket of 41 ball 76 runs, that took the Eagles to a decent position. Marchant de Lange then changed the complexion of the game in the 10th over as he got two in the over as he removed Pepper for 37 and Walter for a duck. Tom Westley fell soon after as the Somerset spinners were tightening the screws of the Essex batting. Matthew Critchley went on to make a well deserved 50 as he went on to make 60 off just 38 with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

The rain halted the play at the 15th over of the innings and the as Essex were 117/5, the game was resumed as it was reduced to 18 overs per side and de Lange and Josh Davey got 4/6 and 3/31 respectively which dismantled the Essex batting unit and reduced them to 139/9.

Somerset came out with a positive intent of chasing a revised target of 144 from 18 overs. Tom Banton fell early but Will Smeed (58 off 30) and Rilee Russouw (67 off 29) set the stadium on fire as they were unstoppable and smashed the bowlers to every corner of the park as both hit a combined 18 boundaries in their 102 run stand off just 46 balls. Lewis Gregory and Tom Lammonby took the team to the winning line in the 15th over itself. Essex bowlers were inconsistent and only Simon Harmer bowled well as he got 2/22 off his 4 overs.
14.4 M Critchley to L Gregory
4 Tossed-up delivery and he has lofted this above the fielder at the cover for a boundary to end this game. A befitting end to this game as this ends with a boundary.
14.3 M Critchley to L Gregory
0 Fuller delivery and he has cut this towards point for no run.
The hosts need one more run to win.
14.2 M Critchley to L Gregory
4 FOUR!!! Short delivery outside the off stump and he has cut this towards point for a boundary. This should have been stopped at point as it goes right under the legs of the fielder for a boundary.
14.1 M Critchley to T Lammonby
1 Tossed-up delivery and he has lofted this towards long-on for a single.
