That's it from our coverage of the penultimate Hundred Men’s group fixture between Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave hosted by Headingley in Leeds. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Chandan Kumar Singh. Tune in for the last group fixture between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals, which will begin shortly. See you there!

Faf du Plessis, Northern Superchargers Captain: "Yes, happy with the win. Yes, the way Parnell and Weise bowled today was amazing and won us the game. I think it's a game of margins and we lost a few close matches and that cost us a lot. I think, it was difficult to make the top 3 and we tried but failed to do so. I think the tournament at the start was confusing, but gradually I got used to the rules. The crowd has been amazing and the atmosphere is electric here. The players have enjoyed it here and I have enjoyed my time over here. Off to the CPL for me now. I think Harry Brook has been a find and he will prosper for English cricket in the future."
Wayne Parnell, Player of the Match: "Pretty special to be here. The crowd support and the atmosphere have been amazing. It's disappointing not to make the playoffs, but I am glad that we have ended on a winning note. It was not an easy wicket to bat on. Had to try the off-cutters and leg-cutters and the back of the hand stuff. I am glad I did that well. Let's see the hope we can come back next season."

Megh: That concludes the penultimate group fixture of The Men’s Hundred 2022. In what was a rollercoaster of a match, the Northern Superchargers won this encounter by 16 runs. What a fantastic encounter that was, it went right down the wire. Southern Brave looked in a commanding position after the first innings, however, the Superchargers got off to an electrifying start.

In pursuit of 136, the Southern Brave were tottering at 34/3 during the powerplay overs as the Superchargers’ bowlers completely bewildered the batters. Quinton de Kock 8 (6) was the first one to depart as a result of a mix-up, soon followed by his opening companion Paul Stirling 5 (5). Captain James Vince 13 (9) tried to provide resurgence but soon lost his stumps to Callum Parkinson. The Superchargers bowlers bowled their hearts out and constantly kept on ticking wickets. Rehan Ahmed, who was dropped on 14, went on to score 33 (29).

The partnership of Ahmed and James Fuller was proving treacherous for the Superchargers before Wayne  Parnell got the better of Ahmed. The left-arm seamer also dismissed Fuller 25 (23) with a toe-crushing yorker in the penultimate set and secured the match to Superchargers. Parnell bagged the most wickets for Superchargers and finished his stint on 4/16. Similarly, David Willey, Callum Parkinson, Adil Rashid, and David Wiese all took a wicket each.

In the end, it was a comprehensive victory for the Northern Superchargers. Defending champions Southern Brave had a disappointing run in this tournament as they only managed to win three out of their eight encounters. They will finish second to last at the table with six points. For the Superchargers, it was a tournament of two halves; they started on an electrifying note but failed to carry the momentum forward as they will finish 6th at the points table. Now, one last game remains in the group stage and it is a virtual quarter-final between Oval and Manchester. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
