Alex Hales was the star of the first innings, his hard hitting half century at a strike rate of 203 in an innings that included 6 boundaries and 4 maximums, ending up with a final score of 59 runs from 29 balls. He was well supported in his endeavors by his opening partner Dawid Malan who played a perfect foil, and thanks to quick fire cameos at the back end by Gregory and Munro ensured Trent Rockets scored 181/4 of their 100 deliveries.
Oval Invincibles came out to chase down the mammoth target and got off to a flier thanks to Will Jacks and Jason Roy. However, Jacks fell early and Curran came in at no. 3 to support Roy. Tabraiz Shamsi had other ideas and two beautiful deliveries got rid of Roy and Billings in the same set which put the Invincibles on the back foot immediately.
Jordan Cox was the star of the failed run chase, eventually staying unbeaten on 61 runs off 33 balls. However, Trent Rockets were way too far ahead in the game to be affected by it. In the end when all was said and done, the Rockets sky-rocketed themselves into second position on the table!
