Thanks for joining us for the live ball by ball commentary of the ICC U19 WC Semifinals between England and Afghanistan, congratulations to the English side as they make it into the finals of the tournament. This was Saurabh Saket alongside my co-commentators Badal Pareek and Ovaise, with our scorer/analyst for the game in Raju Khariya. Stay tuned as we bring you updates from all across the globe. Until then stay tuned and stay safe.
Suliman Safi (Captain Afghanistan): Very difficult time. Momentum was with us. We played some great knocks. We are a good team. Winning and losing is part of cricket. Congratulations to England.
Tom Prest (Captain England): Didn't expect it to get that tight as it did. Boyden was brilliant under pressure. Was quite a brave call choosing to bat. Had to put a score on the board. Something special that partnership. Those runs were crucial at the end. We kind of thought 200 would be a great score. To get up to 230 was amazing. We feel he's a great bowler who can hit the deck hard. Can't really believe it I'm leading England into the finals.
George Bell (Player of the Match) I just tried to keep it steady for a while, so that we could capitalise at the back end. Horton played exceptionally well. It was very challenging to play the Afghanistan spinners. When you know they play the Big Bash, you know they are very good. We targeted their seamers, we knew it would be tough against their spinners, so that was the plan. After that big over from Sales, it was about staying calm. Skipper did a great job of keeping everyone calm.
England took on Afghanistan in the first semifinals of the ICC U19 World Cup as the English side emerged victorious in a match that went down to the wire. Both the sides gave their all throughout the match but it was the English side that won the game and secured their spot in the finals of the tournament.

England won the toss and elected to bat first with rain interrupting the game for a while just before the toss.

Afghanistan was able to quickly send back Jacob Bethell and Tom Prest to the pavilion putting pressure on the English side. Thomas played a crucial knock early in the game as he scored 50 runs off 69 balls to play an anchor role early in the game. Afghanistan was however able to get back into the game with back to back wickets in the middle overs pushing the English side on the back foot. George Bell and Alex Horton however played crucial knocks for their side as the duo scored their fifties in the hour of need and helped England get to 231 at the end of 47 overs.

Afghanistan had a great start to the chase after losing Kharote for a duck in the first over of the chase. Noor and Ishaq put up a 93 run partnership for the second wicket as the duo put the Afghans on the front in the chase. England made a breakthrough in the middle overs as they picked up back to back wickets crippling the chasing side to 106-4 in 28.1 overs. Abdul Hadi and Bilal Ahmed played crucial innings for their side as the duo stabilized the innings for their side to help the Afghans past 150. The English skipper, gave his side a breakthrough as he dismissed Ahmed on 33, kicking the game wide open.

N Ahmad and Hadi tried their best to chase down the total with 43 needed off the last 4 overs, They found 20 runs in the 44th over bringing down the needed runs to 23 in the last three overs. After a packed over from Boyden, Reyan Ahmed picked up three wickets in the penultimate over for just a couple of runs as he turned the game in favour of the English side.

Heartbreaking for Afghanistan as they were so near yet so far, congratulations to the British lads as they make it into the finals.
