That's the end of the proceedings for today. We had two one-sided games as Sylhet Sunrisers and Comilla Victorians clinched two points each. Comilla Victorians skipper Imrul Kayes: "It's always a good feeling to win. We performed well in all departments today. Nahidul bowled well in the last game as well. We planned to bowl two overs of him in the powerplay, and it paid off. Mahmudul Hasan Joy is a good prospect for Bangladesh cricket. Karim Janat also did well, just like the previous game. Faf du Plessis is a great fielder, everyone knows that. He's known for such taking catches."
Player of the Match Nahidul Islam: "My plan was to bowl tights lines and contribute to the team's success. It feels good to get the wickets of the likes of Chris Gayle."
Fortune Barishal skipper Shakib Al Hasan: "I thought they put on a fighting total. We had a belief to chase it down under the lights and due. Nahidul Islam bowled really well and kept our batters under pressure. It's still early in the tournament. We have to come back stronger."
Najmul Hossain Shanto stuck around in the middle for a long while for Fortune Barishal. However, every time he hit the ball hard, he somehow managed to find a fielder. There were no other major contributions for any of the batters, and the target just kept escaping the reach for Shakib Al Hasan and Co. Nahidul Islam was beyond amazing in the second innings as he finished with figures of 3/5. The star of the show was the Afghan all-rounder Karim Janat. He followed up his batting heroics with bowling figures of 2/26 from four overs. Shohidul Islam and Tanvir Islam also chipped in two wickets each. Fortune Barishal would want to forget this game as quickly as possible.
A comprehensive victory for Comilla Victorians in Dhaka. Fortune Barishal started losing their way towards the end of the first innings and could never gain any momentum throughout the second innings. In the end, a modest-looking target of 159 runs proved to be a little too much for Fortune Barishal as they were bundled out for just 95 in 17.3 overs. Comilla Victorians clinch two more points, along with a hefty boost to their net run rate, top climb to the top of the table!
