Milestone
With two wins from three games, Chattogram Challengers now sit at the top of the table. And that's all from us for today's game. It's Ajay Singh signing off. Thanks to Anirudh Modi, Ajay Ahire, and Zeeshan Naiyer for joining me today in covering this encounter. Do join us for the upcoming games as well. Until then, goodbye!
Chattogram Challengers skipper Mehidy Hasan: "It was an excellent match for us. I am really happy with the win. We played really well in the last match, and that's why we wanted to bat first today as well. Lewis and Jacks batted really well today. It is our gameplay to do well in the powerplay. If we can get some quick runs in the first six, we can go on to win games."
Player of the Match Benny Howell: "I like to practice a few different variations. Luckily in Dhaka, the wickets support spin well so I'm using my variations here. I have been working hard with the bat for the last few months. It's working pretty well so far."
Khulna Tigers Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim: "The wicket was pretty good. We had to bowl well irrespective of us winning or losing the toss. Our bowlers and fielders didn't back each other today. Dropped catches hurt us a lot. 170 was chasable here. Fletcher was taken to the hospital, and I believe he's doing fine as of now. Hopefully, we will execute better in the next games."
Nasum Ahmed was tidy as ever, while Shoriful Islam was quick and accurate and unsettled the batters more often than not. Both skipper Mehidy Hasan and Rejaur Rahman Raja claimed two wickets each, with Raja ending up with figures of 2/20 from his four overs. Benny Howell chipped in again with his leg-spin, off-spin, and medium pace as he grabbed one of the most important wickets in Mushiqur Rahim. The Tigers never looked to chase the total down, and it was then only a matter of how big the margin of win would be for the Challengers. While Yasir Ali and Sikandar Raza did look good in the middle for a while, their efforts were never enough for the Tigers to go past the finishing line.
What a clinical performance by Chattogram Challengers! They didn't let Khulna Tigers take control of the game for one bit. T20 games can turn around within an over sometimes, but there was no opportunity presented by the Challengers for the Tigers to pounce on. The dominance continued throughout the second innings as the Challengers kept picking wickets to restrict the Tigers from gaining any momentum. In the end, the Tiger fell 25 short of the target, and it was a win for Mehidy Hasan and Co. they thoroughly deserved!
