That's it from our coverage of the 1st ODI between New Zealand and India Women with the hosts coming out on top in a convincing fashion. Do join us for the 2nd ODI live from Queenstown on Tuesday and for all other cricket across the globe. Cricket never stops in our network.

For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentators Anirudh Modi and Ovaise Shariff. Till next time, stay safe, happy, and cool, and get vaccinated if you already haven't. See you soon. Till then, TA! TA! And ADIOS! To all.
Sophie Devine New Zealand Winning Captain: "Was nice to see Bates getting runs. Having wickets in the shed helped. Was it a little disappointing to leave 11 deliveries unused during the first innings? Had to bowl a fair bit into the wind. Want people to adapt to this team."

Mithali Raj India Losing Captain:" We definitely had our preparation camp. But the extended period of quarantine also didn't help. It is very important to get used to the conditions as the WC is here. We definitely made a comeback in the latter half of the first innings. It took some time for the bowlers to get used to the windy conditions as it was a little breezy. The spinners are an experienced lot and they did well to come back. We should be able to score 270. Of course, we are missing Smriti Mandhana. But it is an opportunity for others to showcase their talent. We need to set the pace to get to 250-260 whether we are batting first or second."

Suzie Bates | Player of the Match - "I can reflect on a pretty special day, nice to start the series with a hundred and a win, need to make sure that we continue with the momentum. Pretty proud of the way the team responded today. We've played at this ground during the domestic summer, we knew how this wicket plays, we knew that they could be under the scoreboard pressure - good thing is that we managed to knock them over."
Time for the post-match presentation.
That's the end of the game and a convincing win for the hosts New Zealand as they thrash the visitors India by 62 runs in the 1st ODI in this 5-match series. They go 1-0 up after bowling the Indians out for 213 in 49.4 overs after they posted 275 on the board.

After being put in to bat by Mithali Raj, it was the Suzie Bates show, as she brought up her 11th ODI ton and her second against the Indians. Her 106 off 111 balls was the cornerstone for New Zealand getting to 275 in 48.1 overs. Notable contributions from Amelia Kerr 33 and Amy Sattherwaite 63 off 69 balls boosted the total although they lost their way in the final 10 overs losing 7-49, Maddy Green contributed with 17 and the skipper Devine contributed with 13.

For the Indian bowlers, 2 wickets apiece for Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, Rajeshwari Gaekwad, and Deepti Sharma. A wicket also for Poonam Yadav while Harmanpreet Kaur was hopeless in her 4 overs for 30 runs. But India came back well with the ball but a daunting task awaited them.

In the chase of 276 for an improbable win, the Indians never really got going. They lost their openers Shafali Verma and Meghana before they crossed 20. It was captain Mithali Raj who steadied the ship and scored 59 runs to give India a glimmer of hope. Yastika Bhatia contributed with 41. Harmanpreet struggled as this was not BBL as she scored a 22-ball 10 runs. Richa Ghosh contributed with 22, Deepti Sharma (16), Pooja Vastrakar(23), and Jhulan(13) also got into double figures. But they were a long way off the chase.

For the White Ferns' bowling, Jess Kerr was the pick of the bowlers with 4-35 in 9.4 overs including 2 in 2 towards the end. She will be on a hat-trick when we have the second ODI for you. A couple of wickets for Hayley Jensen, A wicket apiece for Lea Tahuhu, Sophie Devine the skipper, Hannah Rowe, and Amelia Kerr. A great all-around performance from the New Zealand bowlers as they won by 62 runs to take a 1-0 lead in this 5-match series.

So, New Zealand won by 62 runs. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation coming your way soon.

49.4 J Kerr to R Gayakwad
W Length ball on off, Gayakwad whips across the line but inside-edges it back on to the stumps. Kerr gets 4 wickets and India have got all out for 213. Kerr has been excellent with her lines and lengths today not allowing the Indian batters to settle. Gayakwad and Goswami walk back to the dressing room dejected.
