So that's it from the first match of this series. Hope you have enjoyed the action here at our network. Do join us for all the ongoing and upcoming matches from all around the globe. For now, this is me Ajay Ahire signing it off along with my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ayan Chatterjee. Until then stay safe and stay cool...
Dasun Shanaka|Srilanka captain(winning skipper): "Yeah, I think first of all I should thank the crowd in numbers. Its really good that they have come to cheer us. Yeah 296 is really good run on the board but credits to Chandimal, Asalanka, and Pathum to show the act. yeah actually we've got a lot of depth, plenty of players in the bench as well, we'll figure out as the series proceeds."
Craig Ervine (Zimbabwe Captain) | Losing captain: "We are pretty disappointed that we didn't come out with a win. We were probably 20 or 30 short. I don't think we could have done much differently. We gave away some easy runs and need to tighten up with our lengths."
Dinesh Chandimal|Player of the match: "Ya I mean I could have finished the game, but couldn't do that. yeah You know I've gone through a lot of up and down in my career. What you have to do is that do your practices well, and try hard. Yeah, I'm trying to be all Chandi. When I came to international cricket, I was like this and I couldn't return for 3-4 years. But now this is all kinds of chandi."
That's it that's the game for Sri Lanka. They beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the first ODI. Brilliant batting performances by Nissanka, Chandimal, and Asalanka steered them to this easy victory in the end. Half-centuries from all of them. And they will take a 1-0 lead in this three-match ODI series.

Chasing 297 on this batting-friendly pitch, They got the 40 runs opening partnership. Kusal Mendis started off the Innings with positive intent and scored 26 runs with the help of 6 fours. Before nicking one behind on the bowling of Muzarabani. Kamindu Mendis in at number 3 scored 17 runs from 24 balls before he was undone by Ngarava. Pathum Nissanka played so brilliantly for his 75 and he was striking around 110 throughout the innings with the help of 10 boundaries.

Visitors got rid of Nissanka with the help of DRS as he nicked one to the keeper on the bowling of Sikandar Raza. Then the duo of Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka built a superb partnership and steered the home side to the verge of victory as they put on the partnership of 129 runs for the fourth wickets. Dinesh Chandimal scored 75 runs from 82 balls. As he holds the innings pretty well in the middle overs. Charith Asalanka the young batting sensation of Srilankan cricket scored yet another fine half-century and was the main architect of that chase. He scored 71 runs from 68 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 maximums.

Ngarava was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets, he bowled in the right areas throughout the Innings but didn't get the much-needed support from the other end. Muzarabani and Raza also got the wicket each. But the rest of the bowlers can't make any significant impact here.

Earlier Zimbabwe scored 296 runs in their quota of 50 overs. With the help of brilliant century scored by Sean Williams. But at the end of the first innings, they were certainly 15-20 runs short. So lot to look forward to them in the second game of the series especially in the batting department.
