Ovaise: Australia didn’t get off to a good start, they lost 3 wickets when the score was just 56 in the 15th over but Mooney and Perry stitched up a brilliant partnership and took Australia past the 100 mark. Mooney was dismissed in the 30th over.
McGrath joined Perry in the middle and the pair put of a magnificient partnership which took the game away from the white ferns. They were 164/4 at the end of 40 overs, having just completed a fifty-run partnership. The pair managed to squeeze 20 runs off the 41st over from Jensen and that turned things around, offering them some much-needed momentum for the death overs.
Ash Gardner went absolute bonkers from ball one and produced a brilliant knock to help her side reach a competitive total of 269, Ash Gardner made a fablous 18-ball 48 towards the end which took the momentum away from the white ferns.
Chasing down 269, New Zealand got off to a decent start, got to 22 very quickly and once they lost thier first wicket it was all down hill from there on. Perry got the first wicket followed by Darcie Brown who picked up the important wickets of Amelia Kerr and Suzie Bates. McGrath was introduced into the attack and got a wicket of her third ball. New Zealand were 5 down for 35 in the 11th over.
Satterthwaite played
well along with only Martin suporting her a little bit, the pair put on a 38 run partnership, Martin fell to Amanda
Wellington who took back to back wickets of her fifth and sixth deliveries, got Jenson out on a golden duck. Wickets kept tumbling and a fabulous catch by
Meg Lanning finally ended Satterhwaite's resistance. Both Australia and New Zealand
were excellent in the field today, some magnificent catches were taken in both the innings.
Australia have won the match by a mammoth 141 runs, this is quite a comeback after losing to the white ferns in the warm-up game.
