10:40 PM IST | Ovaise: West Indies have won the 3rd ODI by 20 runs and have won the series 3-0!!
Right then, lets have a recap. West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first and on a dry-looking pitch. There was a slight change in the batting order with Kyle Mayers opening the batting along with Shai Hope. Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek opened the bowling for the hosts and initially, they were a bit wayward which allowed the batted to get their eye in. This was the first time the southpaw (Kyle Mayers) was opening the batting for the West Indies, he looked like he has been doing this all his life, he looked solid out in the middle but ended up losing his opening partner in the 12 over. Bas de Leede who has dismissed Shai Hope in the last game, got him again today and when his father was on commentary! Great moment for the father and son. Shamarh Books joined Mayers in the middle and together they stitched up a marathon partnership, both got to their hundred and took the team to a formidable totally of 308.
The West Indies were very unhappy with how they finished, The Dutch bowled brilliantly in the death and kept the run-scoring down. At one point in the game when the pair of Brooks and Mayers were batting, they looked like getting over 350-60 run mark but fell way short after the dismissal of Kyle Mayers.
It's looked like a stiff chase, but the Netherlands came out with high hopes and got off to a dream start. Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd were magnificent in the middle and stitched up a terrific partnership. After missing out twice to get a fifty, Singh managed to get past his maiden ODI fifty. Jayden Sales and Akeal Hoesinopening the bowling for the visitors. Netherlands lost their 1st wicket just two short of the 100 run mark, Kyle Mayers got the first breakthrough. Musa Ahmad walked out into the middle and joined Max O’Dowd in the middle, together they steadied the ship and stitched up a slow yet steady partnership and took hosts past the 150 runs mark. The platform was set for an excellent chase.
Musa Ahmad stay was ended by Hayden Walsh and the Dutch were 2 down with 164 runs on the board. The required rate had crept up to 7 and a half runs per over. Bas de Leede came in and played an attacking knock before getting out in the 38th over, which was also a maiden! The game tilted towards the visitors again, Max O’Dowd also got dismissed in trying to up the rate! It was downhill from there and the Netherlands fell short of 20 runs. Shermon Lewis got 3 wickets in the last over and turned his day around towards the end!! The Dutch will be very disappointed to be on the losing end and not getting the all-important 10 points.
