So that's it guys from this match. It's ta-ta bye bye from our side. I am AkshayaKrishna Polya who is signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Badal Pareek with our scorer Raju Khariya. We will meet in the next match. Until then, it's cheers..!!!
Akshaya: The match has been abandoned. The rain which was pouring down for the last four days and today as well has kept the cricket away from us. What a shame for the game but nothing in our hands. Only T20I has been abandoned.

Earlier, the rain had stopped but it came back when the umpires were inspecting. A couple of inspections and enough drizzle around, it was enough for the umpires to call it off. Dane Cleaver will now be released from the squad as he is not in the mix for the ODIs. The first ODI will be played on March 29, 2022 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Lets hope that the Legend Ross Taylor at-least get three full games before he calls time from ODI.
UPDATE: 12:39 PM IST: MATCH ABANDONED WITHOUT THE TOSS.
UPDATE: 12:33 PM IST: Two on field umpires are out there for an inspection. But they can do nothing until the drizzle is stopped.
Ayan: Hello Akshaya. I think he will be able to handle it because he will have the guidance of MS Dhoni behind the stumps. Dhoni will guide him whenever required just like he used to Virat while donning Blue Jersey. He will let Jadeja take the calls and make important decisions, but he will be there for DRS and at the crunch positions of the game. This development may have shocked many fans, but knowing MS Dhoni it does not surprise me. He does this so often and catches people unaware. Whether Jadeja can bring instant success to CSK remains to be seen, but I feel he won't be too burdened with Dhoni being around.
UPDATE: 12:21 PM IST: Rains is back again. Ah! no. It's a drizzle alright, but it will delay the start of the match even more.
Akshaya: Amidst these delays, lets go to another part of the world. One of the greatest captains ever, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has handed over the CSK captaincy to the Rockstar SIR Ravindra Jadeja yesterday. What do you think Ayan? Can Jaddu, who is at his best in all three departments, handle this additional responsibility? Personally, I am sad to see MSD is not captaining any more but happy for Jadeja. And my local friends were on tears as soon as this news came out.
UPDATE: 12:08 PM IST: Toss has been delayed due to wet outfield. Next inspection is at 12:30 PM IST.
Mark Richardson with a closed umbrella says- "The ground staffs have done a magnificent job here. It's pretty cold out here. The wind is blowing across well which is why the ground is getting drier quickly. Bowlers are warming up at the pitch right next to today's pitch. The pitch is almost ready. This looks as hard as it is. And that's what you get at McLean Park. The area of concern is the landing area. It's bit patchy and the umpires are really worried about it. This rain is falling from last four days and that's why the outfield is bit dodgy."
UPDATE: 11:47 AM IST: Two umpires, Shaun Haig and Chris Brown are having a discussion with the fourth umpire and the ground staffs at the moment. Hope there is a start as soon as the ground is ready as the rain has disappeared.
UPDATE: 11:36 AM IST: The drizzle is back. We could be in for a longer delay than we thought. The good news is that there is a breeze blowing across, and the skies look a lot clearer than what it was a while ago. The players haven't left the field and are still busy playing football.
UPDATE: Toss delayed due to wet outfield. Another inspection at 11:30 AM IST.
AkshayaKrishna Polya: Tom Latham has confirmed that Michael Bracewell and Dane Cleaver are making their debut today.
UPDATE 11.06 AM IST: There was a fair amount of rain in the afternoon, but the good news is it has stopped and the pitch covers have been taken out. The teams are out in the middle having their drills. By the looks of it, we may well have an on-time start. The umpires are out there inspecting the ground, the outfield will be of a bit of a concern.
The forecast at McLean Park Napier does not look promising as there is a forecast of rain throughout the day. Let's hope that the rain stays away and we get some form of cricket from Napier tonight. Stay tuned for all the live updates from the venue as we will bring them to you shortly.
Coming to the Netherlands team, they have blown more cold than hot in the last few months. They lost all their matches in the qualifiers of the T20 World Cup in UAE. Thereafter, they have lost a majority of matches and have hardly won anything to note, to be honest. They will be hoping to give New Zealand some fight and a bit of run for the money, although it's easier said than done. Led by Pieter Seelaar, the Dutch team consists of Stephan Myburgh and Max ODowd at the top of the order. Vikramjit Singh, Baas de Leede will handle the middle-order duties alongside the in-form wicket-keeper batter Scott Edwards who has been in terrific form in the recent past. Logan van Beek, Fred Klaassen, Clayton Floyd provides meat to the line-up.

Watch out for Brandon Glover the spearhead of the bowling line-up amongst the pacers. Philippe Boissevain is a handy spin-bowling option alongside Aryan Dutt a slow bowler who takes pace off the ball. Other options with the ball include Boris Gorlee, Ryan Klein, and the ever-impressive Shariz Ahmad who if given an opportunity could create a few troubles for the New Zealand side. It is no doubt that they will be the underdogs in this series and that may enable them to play without fear nor fervor. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain from the series. So, can the Dutch somehow upset the hosts' Kiwis? Only time will tell.
New Zealand and the Netherlands are clashing in a one-off T20I here which will be followed by a 3-match ODI series which will also mark the farewell series of the legendary right-hander batter Ross Taylor. The Kiwis will be led by Tom Latham in the absence of 12 players who have arrived in India for the Indian Premier League starting from Saturday, March 26th. Regular skipper Kane Williamson is also part of the players participating in the IPL. It gives the Kiwis a chance to test their bench strength with these players being absent.

The team led by Latham has some usual names like Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman. Domestic talents and Super Smash stars Michael Bracewell and keeper batter Dane Cleaver will do well to use this opportunity and shine on the international stage. Colin de Grandhomme and Scott Kuggeleijn are making a comeback into the side after being on the sidelines for quite a while over the last few months. With the ball watch out for the leg-spinner Ish Sodhi to torment the Dutch alongside pacers Ben Sears, Matt Henry who will be the pace spearhead of this bowling attack. Watch out also for Blair Tickner and Doug Bracewell back into the side after quite a long break. Will Young will be the backup option to the two openers at the top Guptill and Latham the skipper. The hosts may have a depleted side at their disposal for this series, but they have enough ammunition to beat the Dutch who to be honest have blown hot and cold in the last few months in international cricket. There is no doubt, that New Zealand will start as the favorite in this contest.
Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the one-off T20 International featuring New Zealand up against the Netherlands live from McLean Park in Napier. I am Ayan Chatterjee welcoming you to the broadcast and I will soon be joined by my esteemed co-commentators Akshaya Krishna Polya and Badal Pareek alongside our scorer/analyst Raju Kariya as we bring you all the live updates and ball-by-ball proceedings of this clash.
The Netherlands' white-ball tour of New Zealand starts tomorrow with a one-off T20I fixture, scheduled at McLean Park, Napier.

The Tom Latham-led Black Caps will take the field in the absence of their star players, who will miss the Netherlands series due to the nearing IPL edition. This provides opportunities to domestic talents, namely Dane Cleaver, Blair Tickner, Will Young, Michael Bracewell and Doug Bracewell to feature in the XI.

On the other hand, the Netherlands are currently running cold with their recent performance not reflecting much inspiration. They were knocked out in the qualifying round of the last year's World Cup.

The visitors will be captained by Pieter Seelaar, while Logan van Beek and Fred Klaassen are included in the squad for the series on the back of good experience of playing in the New Zealand conditions.
Stay tuned as the live coverage begins from 10:30 AM IST.
