Thanks for joining us for the live coverage of Eliminator 1 from the Pakistan Super League tonight between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United. This was Badal Pareek alongside Ajay Singh and Anirudh Modi. Stay tuned as we bring you updates from all across the globe, until then stay tuned and stay safe.
Shadab Khan | Winning Captain: "Hales is one of the best players in the world, he brings in experience to the team. He has done it in different leagues across the world. When I bat with him, I try to learn from him. We have had a few issues with injuries and covid but we hope to carry on in the same fashion. The plan to send Liam Dawson in the final over was not my own it was a suggestion by my personal assistant."
Wahab Riaz | Losing Captain: "I think there were a few lapses in the bowling and fielding. 169 was a good score to defend. The credit goes to Islamabad United to chase it down. The ball was a bit wet because of the dew, and it was coming onto the bat nicely. Peshawar Zalmi have always been underrated despite their terrific run in PSL history. We had a good combination in the beginning, but then some of our overseas players left the squad. Still, we did well with the local talent we had. I always believe a team should have experience in its ranks. Shoaib Malik led from the front this season. It was a great effort from him. The juniors should take a lot away from his efforts."
Faheem Ashraf | Player of the match: "From the start, my plan was to hit the hard length. Irrespective of whatever happens I will stick to the line and the length. While we were batting out there in the middle, we decided to keep the wickets intact and take it deep into the end. The talk was the same with Liam but he came out and smoked a maximum. He made it very easy for us and won it in the next delivery itself."
Time for the presentation ceremony here.
Alex Hales: "The boys are really excited, played well under the pressure and its a huge win for us. The pitch was a little on the slow side, they bowled really well, made life difficult for me but we came through. He is really gutted with injury but he is happy for us. For Liam to come out and do this for us will provide a huge confidence boost to him. Hopefully, we can take the momentum to tomorrow's game."
Badal: Liam Dawson walks out to the middle and hits 10 runs off 2 balls to help Islamabad United win this Eliminator by 5 wickets. It went right down to the wire but they have managed to get out on the right side of the result.

Earlier in the day the Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost one of their openers in Mohammad Haris early on in the innings. Yasir Khan then walked out to the middle to accompany Kamran Akmal. Even Yasir failed to have an impact on the match as he was dismissed early in his innings. Akmal went on his business from the other end he kept thrashing the Islamabad United bowlers to all parts of the ground. He went on to score a magnificent half-century.

Malik knocked it around and kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end. Akmal was dismissed shortly after bringing up his half-century. Malik and Talat had a decent partnership in the middle. Things did get a touch difficult for them in the middle overs but they managed to hang around. The scoring rate saw a significant drop and this is when Malik and Talat went after the bowlers. Malik scored a vital half-century before getting dismissed and Talat contributed 28 runs off 15 balls. In the end, they managed to score 169 in their 20 overs.

Islamabad United openers Will Jacks and Alex Hales walked out to the middle to get the chase underway. The Zalmi fielders were not upto the mark as they dropped Alex Hales twice as he went on to score a half-century. Will Jacks and Shadab Khan did hang around for a bit failed to convert it into a big score. Things were well within the reach for the Islamabad United batters but then came a brilliant spell of bowling by Irshad who sent back Hales and Asif Ali with two magical yorkers. He brought his team back into the contest. Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf joined forces in the middle and got their team back on track. They needed 22 runs off the last 12 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

Wahab Riaz the skipper of Peshawar Zalmi conceded 12 runs off the penultimate over and Islamabad United needed 10 runs off the final over to win Eliminator 1. Benny Howell was asked to bowl the last over. He started off in the best possible way with a wicket of the first ball. Liam Dawson walks out to the middle and smokes 10 runs in 2 balls to help his team win this encounter.
19.3 B Howell to L Dawson
4 And it's all over. Too easy for Dawson. He comes to the party and wraps things up in style. Gets down on one knee and scoops a full toss for a four behind the wicket in the deep fine-leg region. Shadab Khan and Co keep their cool to emerge victorious and move one step closer to the grand finale! Wahab Riaz walks out of the ground dejected. He can't even lift his face up.
19.2 B Howell to L Dawson
6 Liam Dawson announces his arrival with, what? A MAXIMUM! It's in the slot, another slower ball, and the English all-rounder has SMOKED it for a SIX over midwicket.

19.1 B Howell to A Khan
W Benny Howell begins the final over with a WICKET! A long chat for who will bowl the last has worked. Full length, slow at just 103kph, and the ball zips through under Azam Khan's sweep. It hits him on the back thigh and a loud LBW appeal has been entertained. Azam Khan takes the review. It's 3 reds and the big man has to walk back. The knuckleball does the trick for the United!
Badal: This has gone down to the wire here. 10 runs are needed off the last over. Benny Howell has the ball in his hand, can he deliver under pressure here?

18.6 W Riaz to F Ashraf
0 Bowls it short and wide of the off-stump. Ashraf brings out his flashing cut once again and the result is the same as well. He can't make any connection. Dot to finish the penultimate over. 10 needed off the final over.
18.5 W Riaz to A Khan
1 Just behind the good length, angling in. Azam Khan nudges it on one leg towards deep square-leg for a run.
18.4 W Riaz to A Khan
6 Bowls this one inside the guideline, and he has fed one to Azam Khan to smash it wherever he wants to. It has been hammered for a maximum over long-on.
