Milestone
That's the end of the match, as well as our coverage for the day. We will be back with another game of cricket tomorrow as Quetta Gladiators take on Islamabad United in the 10th game of the tournament. Do join us tomorrow for another exciting fixture. Until then, it's me, Ajay, along with my fellow commentators Akshay and Ninaad, signing off. Take care!
Shaheen Shah Afridi | Skipper, Lahore Qalandars: "Very happy with the cricket we played. Zaman Khan did very well despite being a youngster. Happy to see such youngsters coming through the ranks. We are looking to bank on our wicket-takers. Fakhar Zaman is match-winner, we all know that. His form is good, and we hope he will continue with that form for both Lahore Qalandars and Pakistan. Haris Rauf is a fighter, I hope he also continues to perform well."
Wahab Riaz | Skipper, Peshawar Zalmi: "I would say we gave away a little too many runs towards the end. We could have fielded better as well. You need a good start when you're chasing 200. We lost some quick wickets like Zazai. That set us back. We have a good mix of youth and experience. It was good to see Haider Ali bat well. Cutting is yet to come to the party."
Zaman Khan: "We had a long high performance camp so I practiced slower ones and yorkers a lot. Shaheen, Haris are stars of Pakistan and there is a lot to learn from them."
Zaman Khan is the player of the match.
David Wiese: "The hat-trick has eluded me a couple of times but I'll keep trying to get it. We bowled very well tonight. Fielding wasn't up to the mark tonight but we kept picking wickets at regular intervals. We are a family and we the Qalandars stay close in wins and losses. Zaman bowls well in the powerplay with the new ball and has some serious pace. Good to see him give us good starts with the ball."
There was some late hitting by Haider Ali, but it was a little too late for him to bring his side back into the game and take them over the line. Sherfane Rutherford, another batter who looked good while he was in the middle, came in under immense pressure and could not induce any life into the chase. Rashid Khan commenced his spell with a 19-run over, something we don't witness often. The Afghan leggie, however, brought things back in the later overs to finish with figures of 1/39. Young pacer Zaman Khan was the pick of the bowlers for the Qalandars as he sent three of the Zalmi batters back to the pavilion. Shaheen Shah Afridi was as good as ever and conceded just 19 runs off his four overs, also grabbing two wickets in the process. David Wiese also pitched in for the Qalandars with two wickets towards the end of the chase.
A rather convincing victory for Lahore Qalandars at the end, and they take two more points to climb to second place on the points table. A target of 200 runs was always going to be difficult for the Zalmis to chase, especially with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Rashid Khan, and Haris Rauf in the opposition's bowling ranks. Hard-hitting Afghan opener Hazratullah Zazai returned to the playing field after recovering from COVID-19. However, his stay could only last three balls as Afridi knocked his stumps back to send him back for a duck! While Kamran Akmal looked for most of his innings, he started looking impatient as the chase progressed and threw his wicket away. Failures from Hussain Talat, Shoaib Malik, and Ben Cutting further pushed the Zalmis on the back foot.

6 Finishes this with a maximum! Lahore win by 29 runs. Half volley on the leg stump, clears his front leg and smashes this over cow corner for a biggie! A little too late! Peshawar are 29 runs short of the total. Excellent performance from Lahore Qalandars.
19.5 D Wiese to S Irshad
1 Full toss on off and middle. Gets back in the crease and slogs this high in the air. The ball lands behind the bowler as Irshad comes across for a single.
19.4 D Wiese to S Irshad
0 It's a hattrick for Wiese and it's all over at Karachi! Fuller delivery on the off stump. Irshad tries to work this in the leg side on the front foot but misses. Gets hit straight on the front pad. Loud appeal from Wiese and up goes the finger. Irshad has reviewed this straightaway. Pitching outside off, impact in line and missing the wickets! David Wiese's hat trick just got overturned by the TV Umpire!

19.3 D Wiese to Khan
W Another one bites the dust! Two in two for David Wiese! An inswinging yorker on the off stump. Arish tries to clear his front leg and go big with an angled bat towards the leg side. Huge gap between the bat and the pad as it was nowhere near the line of the ball!
